Okay, so, I’ve been trying to figure out this whole St. John’s basketball prediction thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started out just kinda poking around, you know, seeing what the general buzz was about the team. I saw that they didn’t make it to the postseason in 2024, bummer, right? But they did win six out of their last seven games, which is pretty darn good. Plus, they got this Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino, so that’s gotta count for something.
First, I dove into a bunch of articles and team pages. I mean, a bunch. I wanted to get a feel for their overall performance, not just the recent stuff. I looked at their shooting percentages, how many three-pointers they were making, points per game – the whole nine yards. I even checked out their offensive and defensive ratings, though I’m still not entirely sure what those mean, to be honest.
Digging into the details
Then, I started looking at specific games. Like, they had this one game coming up against Providence Friars. I read that St. John’s was on a four-game winning streak, and Providence had a decent record too. I figured it be a good way to see what they were about. The game was supposed to be on the 20th, so I made a note to check back after that.
- Read some articles about team performance
- Checked scores from past games
- Compared St. John’s stats to their opponents
- Made notes on predictions from so-called experts
I also saw some stuff about betting odds. Now, I’m not much of a gambler, but it was interesting to see that St. John’s was favored by 6.5 points in that Providence game. And the over/under was 143 points, whatever that means. It was all a bit over my head, but it gave me a sense of what people who actually know about this stuff were thinking.
I read another game between St. John’s and DePaul. It’s like St. John’s totally owned that game.
Honestly, by the end of it all, my head was spinning. There’s so much information out there, and it’s hard to know what to make of it all. I’m still not sure I’m any closer to making a solid prediction, but I definitely learned a lot about St. John’s and how these things work. And hey, at least I had fun doing it. It’s like a puzzle, you know? A big, messy, basketball-shaped puzzle. I’ll probably keep digging, though. Maybe I’ll even try to figure out what those offensive and defensive ratings mean eventually.
