Well, well, well, look at this here, “biggest overachievers in football this year,” they say. Football, huh? That’s a rough game. I’ve seen them boys runnin’ and slammin’ into each other. My grandson, Jimmy, he plays football. Says it’s fun. I don’t see how gettin’ all bruised up is fun, but what do I know?
Who’s Been Doin’ Good?
This year, I guess, there’s been some teams, some fellas playin’ extra good. Overachievers, they call ’em. Means they’re doin’ better than folks thought they would. Like when my neighbor’s rooster started layin’ eggs, that was a real shocker. Nobody saw that comin’.
Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout some teams, the Gators or somethin’? They lost a game real close, to some team called Alabama, I think. But then they also lost to Kentucky and somebody called LSU. Sounds like a fella’s name to me. Kentucky, though, they’re supposed to be good this year. Like my old mule, Betsy, strong and stubborn.
- Gators lost to Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU
- Kentucky is a strong team
Some Teams Win a Lot
Then there’s other teams, winnin’ a whole bunch. They say some of them overachievers won like 13 games and only lost 2, somethin’ like that. That’s a lot of winnin’. Reminds me of when I used to play bingo down at the church hall. Sometimes I’d win three, four times in a row!
Some of them even went to some big game, the Super Bowl, they call it. Like the biggest bingo game of ’em all. One team, the Rams, from 1999, they won it all. Good for them. Bet they were happy as a pig in mud. They are the biggest overachievers in this game.
Some Fella’s List
There’s this fella, RJ Young, he makes a list of the best teams. He likes football, I guess. He didn’t change his mind about his top four teams, even after some team called USC beat another one called UCLA. Don’t know what those letters mean, but it must have been a good game.
- RJ Young has a list of top teams
- USC beat UCLA
- RJ Young’s top 4 teams stayed the same
Some Big Game and Some Awards
Heard somethin’ about a game with some fella named Coach Prime, got a bunch of them superstars playin’ for him. And another coach, Sitake, with his own team. They call them overachievers too. Said they been punchin’ above their weight, whatever that means. Sounds painful. Like when I tried to lift that heavy sack of potatoes last week.
They give out awards, too. Like prizes at the county fair. Best apple pie, biggest pumpkin, that sort of thing. They give ’em out in the middle of the season. Seems a bit early to me, like pickin’ your tomatoes before they’re ripe, but what do I know?
Findin’ Out Who’s the Best
They got all sorts of numbers and things to figure out who’s the best. Leaders, they call ’em. Like the lead horse in a wagon race. They keep track of all sorts of things, more than I can keep up with. I just like watchin’ the game, seein’ who wins and who loses.
One Team is Like Another
They say this team, Buffalo, they’re doin’ real good. And that’s supposed to make folks who like another team, Kansas, feel good. Somethin’ about a coach named Lance Leipold and his coaches. I don’t know much about that, but I guess it’s like sayin’ if your neighbor’s garden is growin’ good, then yours might, too. Makes sense, I suppose.
It’s Just a Game
Well, that’s all I reckon I know about these overachievers in football. It’s a lot of fuss over a game, if you ask me. But folks sure do love it. Just like they love their gossip and their bingo. Me? I’ll stick to my garden and my chickens. They don’t talk back, and they don’t need no fancy awards to tell me they’re doin’ just fine. These overachievers in football work hard. They deserve what they got.
- Football is a popular game
- People enjoy watching football
- Overachievers are doing better than expected
- There are many different teams and players in football
Yep, that’s the way it is. Some folks overachieve, some underachieve. Some win, some lose. Just like life, I guess. You just gotta keep on truckin’, doin’ the best you can, no matter what. That’s what I always say. And have some pie every now and then. Pie makes everything better.
I hope I can see my grandson, Jimmy play some day. I will be very proud of him, no matter he win or lose. He will always be the biggest overachiever in my eyes.
But you need to pay attention to your body, do not get hurt. That’s all I want to say about football.
