Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here “meth NBA” thing. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I’ve seen things and heard things, ya know? Basketball, that’s what they call it. Big fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball. Used to be simple, but then things got… complicated.
Back in the day, they say, things were wild. Like, real wild. Heard tell of them fellas, NBA players they was, usin’ all sorts of stuff. Cocaine, they called it. And other things, worse things maybe. This “meth” you’re talkin’ about, I reckon that was in there too. Scary stuff, that is. Makes folks do crazy things, act all outta sorts. Can’t imagine tryin’ to play no basketball game all hopped up on that mess.
Now, I don’t know all the ins and outs, but from what I hear, this drug stuff was a big problem for a long time. Like, years and years. They say the eighties, yeah, the eighties were somethin’ else. Troubling times, they was. Lots of players, good players too, gettin’ caught up in it. Heard stories about fellas throwin’ their careers away, their lives even. Sad, real sad. Imagine bein’ so good at somethin’, and then throwin’ it all away for that… junk.
- They had fellas like that Charles Barkley fella, real good player he was. Don’t know if he was messin’ with that stuff, but lots of ’em were.
- And they had this thing, see, called “live streams.” You could watch the games on your… well, on whatever them fancy contraptions were back then. Nowadays, it’s all on the internet, I hear. You can watch any game you want, whenever you want. NBA streams, they call ’em. NFL too, and all sorts of other sports.
- And they had numbers, see? Each player had a number on their shirt. But they say ain’t no one ever wore the number sixty-nine. Said it was too… well, you know. Too dirty, I guess. That Dennis Rodman fella, he wanted it, but they wouldn’t let him. Had to wear seventy instead. Funny, ain’t it? All that bad stuff goin’ on, and they worried about a number.
But things changed, I reckon. They started crackin’ down on that drug stuff. Testin’ the players, punishin’ ’em if they got caught. And this “marijuana,” they call it, that ain’t such a big deal no more. They used to test for it all the time, but now… not so much. Guess they figured it ain’t as bad as that other stuff. Still test for the hard stuff, though. Cocaine, opiates, and that methamphetamine you’re talkin’ about. Gotta keep them players on the straight and narrow, ya know?
And it ain’t just the players, neither. Heard tell of folks sellin’ that stuff, too. Hangin’ around the players, gettin’ ’em hooked. Bad people, they was. Preyin’ on them fellas, makin’ money off their misery. One fella, they called him Trigg, he was dealin’ all sorts of stuff. Heroin, meth, you name it. Turned a whole house into a… well, a drug den, I guess you’d call it. Filled it up with junkies and… and worse. Just a terrible mess.
But there’s hope, too. Heard stories about fellas gettin’ clean, turnin’ their lives around. Like that Chris fella. Been sober for years now, they say. Got his family and friends supportin’ him, helpin’ him stay on the right path. That’s good to hear. Shows that even when things get real bad, there’s always a chance to make things better. Sobriety, that’s what they call it. Bein’ clean, bein’ healthy. That’s what matters, ain’t it?
So, this “meth NBA” thing… it’s a dark story, a sad story. But it’s also a story about second chances, about fightin’ back against the bad stuff. And maybe, just maybe, it’s a story about how things can get better. Even in the wild world of professional basketball. Drug use in sports, it ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at, but sounds like they’re tryin’ to make things right. That’s all I gotta say about that.
