Well, look at this, “derek carr football card”. I don’t know much about these fancy cards, but my grandson, he’s crazy about ’em. Always yappin’ about some player or other. This Derek Carr fella, I reckon he’s one of them football guys.
Now, these cards, they ain’t just pictures, you know. They got numbers and names and all sorts of stuff on ’em. 2022 Score #125 Derek Carr, that’s what they call one of ’em. My grandson says some of these cards, they’re worth somethin’. Can you believe it? Little pieces of cardboard worth money! This one, he says it’s about a dollar, but then he talks about other ones going for more, like thirty-seven dollars! Lord have mercy, that’s a lot of money for a picture!
- 2022 Score #125 Derek Carr – Seems like a cheap one, just a dollar or so.
- Other cards – Grandson says some go for way more, like thirty-seven dollars on average! That’s crazy talk!
They got these other cards too, like Derek Carr #364 from 2014 Panini Score. They talk about “historic sales” and “algorithms” and all that fancy talk. I don’t understand it, but it sounds like they look at what people paid for these cards before to figure out what they’re worth now. Makes sense, I guess. If someone paid a lot before, maybe someone else will pay a lot now.
My grandson, he’s always lookin’ at these cards online. Says there’s a place called “ebay” where folks buy and sell ’em. Says there’s lots of Derek Carr cards on there. Heck, he says there’s all kinds of cards on there. Says you can find just about anything on that “ebay”. He even talks about “COMC” where you can buy a whole bunch of cards at once. And “rookie cards,” them are the ones he really wants, says they’re worth the most ’cause they’re from when the players first started.
Now, there’s places you can sell these cards too, if you got ’em. Places that say they’ll get you the best price. Sounds like a lot of fuss over some cards, if you ask me. But then again, I ain’t never been one for understandin’ these newfangled things. My grandson, though, he’s always on about it. He says some folks even “grade” the cards, like they’re eggs or somethin’. The better the grade, the more it’s worth, I guess.
And you can find these cards on “Amazon” too, that place where you can buy just about anything under the sun. My daughter-in-law, she buys all her pots and pans from there. Says they got good prices. So, I guess you can get these Derek Carr cards there too. They got “deals of the day” and all that. I don’t know, it’s all too much for my old brain.
There’s a new set of cards comin’ out, they say, 2024 Score Football. 400 cards in the set! That’s a lot of cards! And they got this new thing called “CollX” where you can take a picture of your card and it tells you what it’s worth. Now that’s somethin’ even I can understand. Take a picture, get the price. Simple as that. You can even buy and sell cards on there, they say. It’s all gettin’ so complicated these days.
So, that’s what I know about these “derek carr football cards”. Not much, I admit, but enough to know that some folks are mighty interested in ’em. And if my grandson is happy, well, that’s all that matters to me. He can collect all the cardboard he wants, long as he stays out of trouble. And maybe one day, one of them cards will be worth a whole lot of money, and he can buy me a new porch swing.
Investing in Football Cards
Seems like some folks even buy these cards as an investment, like stocks or somethin’. They buy ’em low and hope they go up in value. It’s a gamble, just like everything else in life. You never know what’s gonna be worth somethin’ tomorrow. But if you know what you’re doin’, I guess you can make some money. My grandson, he’s always readin’ about it, tryin’ to figure out which cards to buy. He talks about “market value” and “supply and demand” and all sorts of things that make my head spin. But he seems to enjoy it, so I just let him be.
Collecting for Fun
And then there’s the folks who just collect ’em for fun, like my grandson. He likes the pictures, he likes the players, he likes havin’ a whole bunch of ’em. He keeps ’em in these special folders and looks at ’em all the time. It’s a hobby, I guess. Like my sister used to collect stamps. Everyone’s gotta have somethin’ to do, right? And as long as it ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I say let ’em collect whatever they want. So, whether you’re lookin’ to make a buck or just have a little fun, these “derek carr football cards” seem to be the ticket for some folks.
