They say them Kings, they got a cap, whatever that means. Some number like $71,244,167. I don’t know ’bout you, but that’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life! And they got somethin’ called a cap hit. Must be when they smack into each other on that ice. Reckon it hurts your wallet, too!
And get this, the cap for them other years, the 2024-25, or somethin’ like that? They talkin’ ’bout $141 million! Can you imagine? Could buy a whole lotta chickens with that kinda money. And somethin’ ’bout a luxury tax? Sounds fancy. Must be for them rich folks in the city. And they mentionin’ numbers like $178.7 million and $189.5 million. Lord have mercy, that’s just plain silly money.

Then I heard somethin’ ’bout them Kings bein’ in somethin’ called the Pacific Division. Don’t know what that is, but it sounds like the ocean. Maybe they play hockey on a boat? Nah, that can’t be right. Their current cap hit is $90,180. Sounds like a lot to me!

They also talkin’ ’bout cap space. Sounds like they need a whole lotta space to hold all that money. And they got all these players, each one gettin’ a piece of the pie. They call it cap hits, like I said before. And something about salaries for the players. They make good money, those boys, skating around and hitting each other.

Also a big number. Then there is this word, incentives. What is it? They talking about their big money again. Too many big numbers. I can’t understand.
I don’t know who all these fellas are, but they got names like, well, I can’t rightly recall. But each one of ’em, they gettin’ a good chunk of change. They got contracts and all that fancy stuff. Must be nice to have a contract that pays you that much!

Kings’ Money is Too Much!
Shoot, all this talk about millions and millions. It’s enough to make your head spin! Back in my day, we were happy with a few dollars in our pocket. These young folks today, they got it made! Playing a game and gettin’ paid more money than you can shake a stick at.
Well, I reckon that’s how it goes these days. Everything’s gettin’ more expensive, even them hockey players. Just hope they know how lucky they are, gettin’ paid all that money to play a game. Me, I’m just gonna go back to tendin’ my garden. Don’t need millions to be happy. Just some good sunshine and a little peace and quiet.
But, I tell ya what, if I had that kinda money, I’d buy me a whole new set of teeth! And maybe a new rocking chair for the porch. And maybe a lifetime supply of yarn. A girl can dream, can’t she?
