That Jordan Dunbar, you know, the young fella playin’ football. He’s a good boy, that one. Playin’ for them…what’s it called… Kansas fellas. He used to play for Rice, that’s right. Rice football, like the stuff we eat. Now he’s with them Kansas Wildcats. Lord, them names they come up with.
He’s a good player, that Jordan. Strong and fast, like a wild horse. He run all over that field. He was playin’ defense, they say. Keepin’ the other fellas from scorin’. He do a good job, too. I seen him on the TV once, my grandson showed me. That Jordan Dunbar, he’s all over the place.
He used to play for Rice, that Rice University. He was a good player there, too. Now he’s gone to Kansas. That’s far away. Hope he’s doin’ alright out there. It’s a long way from home, that Kansas. He went from that Jordan Dunbar Rice team to that Kansas team. Hope he’s eatin’ good.
They say he’s a cornerback. Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a field, corner of a field. But it’s some kinda football thing. He’s good at it, whatever it is. They say he can play safety, too. Keepin’ everyone safe, I reckon. That’s good. We need more safe folks these days. That boy, Jordan Dunbar, he knows how to play that football.
He went to that Rice University, down there in Houston. That’s a big city, Houston. Lots of folks down there. He was playin’ football there, doin’ good. Then he went off to Kansas. Hope he ain’t gettin’ into no trouble out there. It’s wild out west.
They say he’s gonna visit that UNLV place. What is that, Las Vegas? That’s a crazy place, Las Vegas. Lots of lights and all that carryin’ on. Hope he don’t get caught up in all that. All different colors and what not. They say they fit true to size. Whatever that means. Just means they fit like they’re supposed to, I guess.
Them shoes, they made in Italy. That’s over in Europe somewhere. Long way away. They got that Jumpman on ’em. Looks like a fella jumpin’ in the air. Kinda like that Jordan Dunbar when he’s playin’ football. Jumpin’ around, catchin’ that ball.
You gotta wear the right pants with them shoes, they say. Jeans, mostly. Blue jeans. Gotta be the right kind of blue, though. Dark blue, they say. Makes the shoes stand out more. My grandson, he knows all about that stuff. He’s always wearin’ them fancy shoes.
Them shoes ain’t got no swoosh on ’em. That’s that Nike sign, the swoosh. These Jordan shoes, they different. They got that Jumpman instead. And they made different, too. Fancy leather and all that. They real popular, them Jordan shoes. Just like that Jordan Dunbar, he real popular in that football world.
Well, I hope that Jordan boy is doin’ good out there in Kansas. It’s a long way from home. But he’s a good boy, and he’s a good football player. He’ll be alright. He just needs to keep playin’ his game and stayin’ out of trouble. That’s all that matters.
