Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I’m diving deep into something a little different, but pretty cool if you’re a football fan like me. I spent my day digging into the 2010 Ole Miss football team roster. Yeah, the Rebels! It’s a bit of a throwback, but trust me, it got interesting.
So, first things first, I started by hitting up the usual spots on the internet, just trying to get a general feel for the team that year. I found out that the head coach at the time was Houston Nutt. This was his third season with the team. I gotta say, going through old sports stuff is like a trip down memory lane.
Then, I stumbled upon a fun fact! Did you know that the speed limit on the University of Mississippi campus is 18 MPH? Apparently, it’s a tribute to Archie Manning, a legendary Ole Miss player whose jersey number was 18. They even named him the Mississippi Sportsman of the Year and SEC Most Valuable Player back in ’69. Pretty cool, huh?
Next, I started looking for the actual roster. It took some clicking around, but I finally found a solid list. I started to jot down some of the player names that stood out to me, which took a while as there were a lot of players on the team.
My Findings
Here are some other notable facts I found out about the 2010 Ole Miss Rebels:
- Throughout their history, the Rebels have had six Southeastern Conference titles. Those were in 1947, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1962, and 1963.
- They claim three national championships. In 1959, 1960, and 1962. Not bad at all!
- The team was led by quarterback Jacob Bennett, who was also the coach.
Honestly, this whole thing started as a random curiosity, but I ended up learning a lot more about Ole Miss football than I expected. This may have been my most productive day of the year. It’s always cool to see the history behind a team and the players who made it all happen. Hope you guys enjoyed this little trip down memory lane with me. Let me know if you want me to dig into any other teams or seasons!
Catch you all in the next one!
