Hey everyone, so I’ve been fiddling around with designs lately, and I thought, why not try my hand at recreating the Vegas Golden Knights logo? You know, the hockey team that everyone’s been talking about. I got interested in this whole thing back in 2016 when they first showed off their logo. I remember seeing it and thinking, “That’s pretty slick.”
So, I started by pulling up a bunch of images of their logo. The main one is that barbute helmet, you know, the kind medieval knights wore. It’s smack-dab in the middle of a black and gold shield. They’ve got this “V” shape cut out of the helmet, which I guess stands for Vegas. Pretty clever, right?
- First, I sketched out the basic shield shape on my tablet. Nothing fancy, just a simple outline to get the proportions right.
- Then came the helmet. Man, that thing has some details! I spent a good chunk of time trying to get the curves and angles just right. It’s not as easy as it looks, let me tell you.
- Once I was happy with the helmet, I filled in the colors. Black and gold, just like the real deal. I even added that V-shaped opening. That was a bit tricky to get symmetrical, but I managed.
Digging a Little Deeper
While I was at it, I also looked into their secondary logo. It’s got two swords crossing behind a red star. They say it’s supposed to look like the star on that famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. You’ve probably seen it in movies or something. I tried drawing that one too, but it’s still a work in progress. It’s harder than it seems!
I also did some reading about the team’s mascot. Turns out, they wanted something unique, something from around here. So, they picked a Gila monster. Yeah, a lizard! They named him Chance. The story goes that Vegas took a “chance” on ice hockey, even though some folks thought it wouldn’t fly here. I found that pretty funny and kind of cool.
Random Facts I Learned
I also stumbled upon some info about the team’s history. Apparently, back in 2015, this guy Foley paid a whopping $500 million to get the team started. And get this, the Maloof family, who used to own the Sacramento Kings, are also part of the ownership group. Who knew, right? I also found out that the team has been doing pretty well, making it to the playoffs six times in seven seasons and even reaching the Stanley Cup Finals twice. Not too shabby for a new team, huh?
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the world of the Vegas Golden Knights logo. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few things along the way. Maybe I’ll try tackling some other team logos next. Any suggestions?
