Okay, so I’ve been really into college football lately. I mean, who isn’t, right? The games, the rivalries, the whole atmosphere… it’s just awesome! But I realized I didn’t know as much about the team mascots as I thought I did. I mean, I know the big ones, like the Tigers and Bulldogs, but there are so many more out there.
So, I started looking for a way to test my knowledge. I really wanted to see how many mascots I could name off the top of my head. You know, just to see where I stood. I searched for quizzes related to “college football mascots” and found that there are quite a few quizzes out there that people have created. I found this one quiz, it’s called “Can you name every NCAAF FBS team’s mascot?” and it has a really good rating. I decided to give it a try first.
I clicked on it and started taking the quiz. At first, it was pretty easy. I was just typing in names like “Tigers” and “Bulldogs” and racking up the points. But then it started to get a little tougher. I had to think a bit harder about some of the less common mascots.
I mean, did you know there’s a team called the “Horned Frogs”? Or the “Rainbow Warriors”? Yeah, I had no idea either. This quiz was really opening my eyes to the wide world of college football mascots. It was actually pretty fun trying to remember all those names.
Then I moved on to the “Can You Name All 134 FBS Mascots?” quiz. This one was much more challenging. It listed all 134 teams, and I had to match the mascot to the team. It took me a while, but I managed to get through it. I was actually surprised by how many I got right.
And then I found another one called “Can you name all of the team nicknames in FBS?”. It was also difficult but in a different way. I realized that I know more about the official names than their nicknames. These quizzes were really challenging but also super interesting.
Realizations and Fun Facts
After spending a good chunk of my day on these quizzes, I realized a few things:
- There are a LOT of college football teams. I mean, 134 in the FBS alone? That’s a ton!
- Some states don’t even have a college football team, while others have multiple. Life’s not fair, I guess.
- Mascot names are way more creative than I thought. Sure, you’ve got your classics, but then you’ve got some really out-there ones.
- “Tigers” is the second most common nickname, with 72 teams using it. I totally called that one.
- The most used name is “Eagles” with 118 teams. After that, it’s “Hawks”, “Tigers”, “Lions”, “Bulldogs”… you get the idea. There are a lot of animals!
- I’m actually pretty good at this! I mean, I’m no expert, but I definitely know more than the average person.
Overall, it was a pretty fun and educational way to spend an afternoon. I definitely learned a lot, and I feel like my college football knowledge is a bit more well-rounded now. I might even impress my friends with some of these obscure mascot names. If you’re a college football fan, I definitely recommend giving these quizzes a try. You might surprise yourself!
Oh, and one last thing. I found out that the first logo on one of these quizzes has been “scientifically proven to make Ohio State fans angry.” I’m not sure what that’s all about, but it sounds hilarious. I might have to look into that later. Anyway, that’s all for now. Go sports!
