I was going through my old hockey cards the other day, you know, the ones from back when I was a kid. I stumbled upon a few from the Minnesota Wild, and it got me thinking about all those players who used to be on the team. So, I decided to dig a little deeper and see what I could find out about some former Wild players.
First off, I grabbed my laptop and started searching online. I typed in “former Minnesota Wild players” and was hit with a ton of results. Lots of names popped up, some I remembered, and some I didn’t. I started clicking around, reading articles, and browsing through player lists.
One name that really stood out was Andrew Brunette. Turns out, this guy played over 1,100 games in the NHL, and almost half of them were with the Wild! The articles I read said he was a big deal for the team, both on and off the ice. I always remembered him being a solid player.
- Kirill Kaprizov: He seems to be one of the highest-rated players.
- Jonas Brodin: Another top-rated player.
- Brock Faber: Also highly rated.
Then I went down a rabbit hole of checking out different players, like Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi. It’s wild to see how many players have come and gone through the years. Seems there was a player named Modano who in 2019 became an executive advisor for the Minnesota Wild.
I also found out a bit of history about the team. Did you know the Minnesota North Stars used to play at the Met Center for 26 years? The team moved to Dallas in 1993. I guess a guy named Norm Green owned the team back then. They tore down the Met Center in 1994. Sad, but those old buildings only last so long.
Oh, and there’s the whole mystery about their mascot. It’s supposed to be some kind of “wild animal,” but nobody seems to know exactly what it is. Is it a bear? A wildcat? The team isn’t saying. Pretty funny, if you ask me.
It’s interesting that the Wild didn’t make the playoffs this season, only the second time since 2012. It’s a tough league, and every team has its ups and downs.
After spending a few hours reading and clicking around, I felt like I had a pretty good overview of some of the former Wild players. It’s always fun to reminisce about the past and see what these guys are up to now. I even printed out a few articles to save for later. It’s like a little trip down memory lane, you know?
Anyway, that’s how I spent my afternoon – geeking out on old hockey players. Maybe I’ll do some more digging tomorrow and see what else I can uncover. It’s always a good time when you can combine a hobby with a little bit of internet sleuthing!
