Hey everyone, so, I’ve been messing around with crossword puzzles lately, and today’s was a real head-scratcher. The title was “loses on purpose,” and I was like, “What the heck does that even mean?”
So, I started by googling stuff like “lose on purpose” and “intentional defeat.” You know, just trying to get a feel for what kind of words I might be dealing with. I found some interesting phrases like “deliberate loss” and “game-throwing.” And then there was this weird one, “TANK.” I was like, “Tank? What’s a tank got to do with losing on purpose?”
Some Clues and Hints
- I saw some websites talking about how crossword clues often have numbers in parentheses that tell you the length of the answer. Like, (5) means a five-letter word. That was kind of helpful.
- There was also this thing about the recent U.K. elections and the answer being “Tories.” I didn’t really get how that was related, but I figured maybe it was just an example of a crossword clue.
Then I started looking specifically for crossword answers. I typed in “lose on purpose crossword clue” and the number of letters I was looking for. One site suggested “TANK” as a 10-letter answer, and it said it was from the LA Times Crossword. But then other sites had all sorts of different answers, with 5 or 6 letters. It was a mess!
I spent a good chunk of time going through all these different crossword solver sites. One of them claimed to have 10 results for “loses on purpose,” another said they had 40 possible answers! It was totally overwhelming. I mean, how can there be so many different answers for the same clue?
Anyway, I eventually narrowed it down to a few possibilities, but I’m still not 100% sure which one is right. I guess that’s the thing about crosswords, they can be super tricky sometimes. It’s like, you think you’re making progress, and then you hit a wall.
But you know what? I actually kind of enjoyed the challenge. It’s like a little brain workout. And even though I didn’t get all the answers, I still learned a few new words and phrases. So, I guess it wasn’t a total loss after all.
So yeah, that was my little crossword adventure for today. Maybe tomorrow’s puzzle will be easier. Or maybe it’ll be even harder! Who knows? That’s the fun of it, right?
