So, I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere – crop top football jerseys. They look super cute and I thought, why not make my own? I had this old jersey lying around that I never wore, so I decided to give it a shot.
First things first, I grabbed the jersey and tried it on to figure out where I wanted to crop it. I marked a spot a little below my belly button with a pen because I didn’t want it too short. I mean, I still wanted to be able to wear it without feeling too exposed, you know?
Then, I laid the jersey flat on my table. Let me tell you, getting a straight line is harder than it looks! I used a ruler and drew a line across the mark I made earlier. I even double-checked to make sure it was even on both sides. Don’t want a lopsided crop top!
Next came the scary part – cutting! I took a deep breath and started cutting along the line with my fabric scissors. I went slow and steady, making sure not to mess it up. It took a few minutes, but I finally got through it.
- Tried on the newly cropped jersey and it looked… okay. The bottom was a bit rough, so I decided to fold it over about half an inch and ironed it down. I don’t own a sewing machine.
- But I still wanted to secure it, so I used some fabric glue to stick the folded edge down. It’s not perfect, but it does the job.
I tried it on again and it looked so much better! I paired it with some high-waisted jeans and sneakers, and it was such a cute, sporty look. I even wore it out to a casual hangout with friends, and they all loved it! They even asked me to make one for them!
Honestly, it was way easier than I thought it would be. And the best part? I turned an old jersey I never wore into something trendy and fun. I’m definitely going to try this again with some other old shirts. Maybe I’ll even add some patches or designs next time to make it even more unique.
If you have some old jerseys lying around, you should totally try this out! It’s a fun little project, and you end up with a cute new top. What could be better?
