Okay, so, today I wanted to mess around with tracking the GCL football standings. It’s something I’ve been meaning to get into, and I finally carved out some time to make it happen. First off, I had to figure out where to get the data, right? It’s not like they just hand this stuff to you on a silver platter.
So, I started with a basic search. I looked up Greater Catholic League football standings and started clicking around. I found a few different websites that seemed promising, but nothing was giving me exactly what I wanted. I noticed that these websites are all about respect, self-discipline, and all that good stuff, which is cool, but I needed the raw numbers.
I spent a good chunk of time just browsing different sports websites. The Local 12 Tri-State had some rankings, but not exactly what I needed. Then I came across the Greater Cleveland Ohio high school football standings page, which seemed more in line with what I was looking for. Their site has all the official information and updates, so that’s a plus.
After that, I started to think about how I wanted to organize this. It’s easy to get lost in all the numbers, so I decided to focus on the main things: teams, wins, losses, and maybe some other simple stats. I saw someone talking about fantasy football drafts and how spreading your picks out on too many teams is a bad idea. I’m not doing fantasy football, but it got me thinking about how to present the standings in a clear way, maybe focusing on the top teams, or by the team division.
- Digging for Data: I spent a lot of time just looking for a good source of information. I hit up various sports sites and finally found a few that had decent standings.
- Organizing the Info: Once I had some data, I had to figure out how to organize it. I decided to keep it simple for now, just focusing on the basics like wins and losses.
- Presentation: This is still a work in progress. I’m thinking of maybe highlighting the top teams or showing the standings by team division, but I haven’t settled on anything yet. It needs to be easy to read, you know?
Anyway, that’s where I’m at now. I’ve got some data, a basic idea of how to organize it, but the presentation part is still up in the air. I just wanted to share my little adventure with you guys. It’s not groundbreaking stuff, but it’s been a fun little project for me. I’ll probably keep tinkering with it and see what I come up with. Maybe next time I’ll have a more polished version to show off!
