Hey everyone, today I wanted to share my little project on the 1993 WVU football roster. You know, sometimes I get these random itches to dive into sports history, and this time it was all about West Virginia University’s football team from ’93. So, I started this whole thing with a simple search. I just typed “1993 WVU football roster” into my browser, not really knowing what I’d find.
The first few results gave me a general overview. I saw that the team had an impressive record, 11-1. Wow, that’s pretty good! I found out they played in the Big East Conference and were undefeated in their conference games. It was cool to see they were ranked 7th in the final AP poll. That’s a big deal!
I started to dig deeper, trying to find a full roster. I wanted to see who the players were, their positions, maybe some stats. One site had a partial list, but it wasn’t complete. It mentioned their coach, Don Nehlen, though, and noted that the team scored a whopping 401 points that season. They must have had a killer offense!
- I stumbled upon another page that had more details about their conference performance.
- They had a perfect 7-0 record in the Big East.
- That’s a clean sweep!
- It mentioned they won the school’s first Big East Conference championship.
- That must have been a huge moment for the university and their fans.
But I still didn’t have that full roster I was looking for. I kept searching, clicking on different links, hoping to find a complete list of players. Finally, I found a website that seemed promising. It was dedicated to WVU sports history, and it had a whole section on the 1993 team.
Bingo! There it was, the full roster, with all the players’ names and positions. I spent a good chunk of time just going through the list, looking up some of the players’ names, and seeing what they went on to do after college. It was really interesting to see how many of them continued playing football professionally, and some even made it to the NFL.
This little project really reminded me how much fun it can be to explore sports history. It’s like uncovering a time capsule, and you get to learn about all these amazing athletes and their achievements. It was a good use of my time.
Reflections
It was quite the journey, but I’m glad I took the time to do it. It’s cool to see how a simple search can lead you down a rabbit hole of information, and how rewarding it can be to piece together the story of a team from the past. This was fun, I should do this more often.
