Okay, so, I decided to look into the whole McNeese State basketball prediction thing. It’s kind of a big deal, with all the betting and whatnot, so I figured, why not see what all the fuss is about? I started by reading up on this KenPom guy. Apparently, he’s pretty good at predicting game outcomes, like 73% accuracy. That’s wild! But for betting, it’s closer to 60%, which is still not bad, I guess.
Then I started digging into McNeese State’s recent games. They had a win recently, but I saw they were playing an away game, and it seemed like it was going to be tough. I saw a lot of chatter saying the home team, Mississippi State, was likely to be stronger. Lots of predictions were floating around, and they mostly favored Mississippi State.
I came across this “model” thing, and it was pointing out that the total score was a big deal in this McNeese State vs. Mississippi State matchup. Seemed like a lot of people were betting on that. The number I saw a lot was 77 for Mississippi State, so I guess that was the magic number everyone was hoping for.
- Checked out BetMGM: I stumbled upon this BetMGM Sportsbook, and they were all about the odds for this game. It’s all numbers and stuff, like Mississippi State being favored by 9 points. They even had this thing called a “moneyline,” which was -500 for Mississippi State.
- Found some more predictions: There were a bunch of different sites with predictions, and most were leaning towards Mississippi State. One guy, named Tanner McGrath I think, was talking about college basketball and McNeese State University.
- Looked at other games: I even found predictions for McNeese State against Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana. There was a lot of talk about betting and trying to find the best “pick.” It’s like a whole other world of numbers and strategies.
- More research: Saw something about Liberty vs. McNeese State and some “free preview” and “analysis.” I guess people really get into this stuff.
- Examined spread betting: Lastly, I saw that McNeese had covered a -17.5 line in some recent games. It was mentioned they covered it in two consecutive games. One prediction was for a game against Texas A&M.
So, after all this, I didn’t really come up with my own prediction. It felt like too much information, honestly. But it was interesting to see how many people are into this and how much analysis goes into these predictions. It’s like a whole science! For now, I think I’ll just stick to watching the games for fun, without all the numbers and betting. Maybe one day I’ll dive deeper, but for now, it’s just a bit overwhelming.
