Man, today was a day, let me tell you. I’ve been itching to get back on the court, you know, feel the squeak of the sneakers, the swish of the net, that whole vibe. So, I decided to document my journey back into the game with a little project I’m calling “Sincere Jones Basketball.”
First things first, I had to find some inspiration. I’m not a pro or anything, but I figure why not act like one? Dug up some old highlights online. Found this dude, Sincere Jones, class of 2023, playing for Cass Tech. Also saw that he committed to Virginia Tech, scored 27 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in some game. The guy’s a beast! Watched a bunch of his videos, and man, that got me pumped.
Then, I grabbed my phone and started recording my own stuff. Went to the local park, you know, the one with the rusty hoops and the cracked asphalt. It ain’t fancy, but it’s where I learned to play, so it felt right.
- Tried to copy some of the moves I saw in those Sincere Jones videos. Let’s just say, it’s harder than it looks.
- Dribbling drills were up first. Rusty as hell, I won’t lie. The ball was bouncing all over the place.
- Shooting practice was next. Bricked a few, air-balled a couple. But hey, I made some too! The feeling when that ball goes through the net… man, there’s nothing like it.
- Got my friend to come along and film some one-on-one. We played a few games, and I got my butt kicked, not gonna lie, but it was fun. Plus, we got some decent footage for my little project.
I even tried to make a highlight reel, just like the pros. Found some free editing software online, learned the basics by using it. It took me hours to put together a few minutes of footage. It’s rough, but it’s mine, you know?
After all that, I’m dead tired. My legs are sore, my arms are like jelly, and I’m pretty sure I pulled something in my back. But it was worth it. Felt good to be back on the court, even if it was just for a little while. And who knows, maybe this “Sincere Jones Basketball” thing will turn into something. Maybe I’ll inspire someone else to pick up a ball and start playing. That’d be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?
Anyway, I’m gonna go ice my knees and watch some more basketball. Peace out, y’all.
