What’s up everyone! Today, I want to talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – figuring out the values of Kobe Bryant basketball cards. Now, I’m no expert, but I found this pretty cool app, CollX, that helped me get a handle on it. I decided to dig into the current market for Kobe Bryant cards.
First off, I jumped onto eBay to see what’s been going down. I learned that in the past month, something like 1100 Kobe cards have been sold. The average price? Around 42 bucks. But here’s the kicker – they ranged from just under a dollar to who knows how much!
So, using this CollX app, I started taking pictures of different Kobe cards. The app was wild – it just spits out the current market price after you snap a photo. I got into it and added a bunch of cards to my digital collection, just to see the prices fluctuate. It was kind of cool to watch the values change, even though I wasn’t buying or selling.
Some Findings
- Rookie Cards: I found out that Kobe has around 16 official rookie cards. One of them, the 1996-97 Topps Chrome Refractor, seems to be a big deal. It’s the one everyone’s after.
- Expensive Cards: Then there’s this 1997 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Green card. It is apparently the holy grail, the most expensive Kobe card out there. I didn’t even bother checking the price on that one, probably costs more than my car!
- Draft Pick: I also learned that Kobe was the 13th pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. The Charlotte Hornets picked him straight out of high school. Who knew?
It started with me just being curious, and before I knew it, I was deep into this whole Kobe Bryant card world. I learned a lot, especially about how the prices for these cards can be all over the place. The range was crazy. It’s not just about the player’s fame, but also the rarity and condition of the card. I even tracked some common cards that were only worth a couple of dollars.
And yeah, I did think about buying a few, maybe even selling if I got lucky. But for now, I’m just having fun with it, learning as I go. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next. It’s been a fun little project, and I’m learning a lot. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a card shark one day. Until next time, keep collecting!
