Okay, here’s my story about Wawasee Pee Wee Football. I got involved in this whole thing because my nephew, he’s like, eight, really wanted to play. So, I figured, why not? I’ll be the cool uncle and check it out.
First thing I did was look up some info online, like any normal person would. I found out they got different age groups. Like, 7 and 8-year-olds are in 8U, 9 and 10 in 10U, and 11 and 12 in 12U. Makes sense, right? Keeps it fair.
Then I saw some dates for a “Winter Skills Camp”. It was in January, two sessions, both at the WHS Annex Gym. I thought, “Okay, this is where they check out the kids, see who can catch and all that.” So, I took my nephew to one of those. It was pretty packed, lots of kids running around, doing drills. He seemed to like it, so that was a good sign.
Next, I found out that to play, the kid had to be born in either 2011 or 2012. My nephew was good to go. After that, I think I stumbled upon something about an online registration. I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember they had a link for both football and cheerleading on some website. I remember that, because my niece who is not really interested in football wants to join the cheerleading. Anyway, I signed my nephew up online – it was pretty easy, actually.
Oh, and I remember seeing something about a pancake breakfast fundraiser. I love pancakes, I guess it was some kind of all-you-can-eat thing. Seemed like a cool way to support the team and meet some other families.
So yeah, that’s how I got roped into this Wawasee Pee Wee Football thing. It’s been a learning experience, for sure. From figuring out the age groups, to registering online, to going to that winter camp. I guess, I’m now a football uncle. And who knows, maybe I’ll even go to that pancake breakfast. We’ll see.
- Went online, found info about age groups and winter camp.
- Took my nephew to the winter camp, he enjoyed it.
- Registered him online, it was simple.
- Saw something about a pancake breakfast fundraiser.
Overall, it’s been pretty straightforward. I’m not saying I’m an expert now, but I at least know the basics. It’s cool to see the kids having fun and learning something new. And hey, maybe I’m learning a thing or two along the way, too.
