Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with predicting the Canucks vs. Blackhawks game. It’s something I’ve been meaning to try out for a while, and I finally got around to it. It’s not as tough as I thought it’d be, but it definitely takes some looking into.
First, I started by checking out some of those betting sites. You know, the ones with all the odds and promos. There are tons of them out there, like Palmerbet, *, and a bunch of others. They have all sorts of stuff listed, like “Bet on Horse Racing,” “Bet on Sports,” and whatnot. Seems like they really want you to put your money down on anything that moves. They also throw around phrases like “Great Betting Promos,” “Great Odds,” and “Betting Specials.” It’s all pretty flashy and in-your-face, but hey, that’s their thing.
Then I started digging into the game details. It looks like the game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd, which is good to know. I saw that one site was favoring the Blackhawks, and there were some numbers next to their name, like “+154” I think it’s called. Not sure I will do this number.
After gathering all this info, I tried to make my own prediction. I spent a good chunk of time looking at past games, player stats, and just general team performance. It’s a lot to take in, honestly. I mean, these guys are professionals, and I’m just some dude with a computer, but I gave it my best shot. There is one website show me a good way, it looks like it use computer analysis, it called *.
Finally, I kind of figured out who I thought might win, but I won’t say here because, well, I’m no expert. Let’s just say I have a hunch. It’s all just for fun anyway, right? Maybe I’ll try it again with another game sometime. It was definitely an interesting experience. There’s a lot more to this sports prediction stuff than I initially thought. Those betting sites make it look so easy, but there’s some serious digging involved if you want to even attempt to know what you’re doing. And even if I get it totally wrong, I feel like I learned something new today, and that’s always a good thing.
