Alright, so I’ve been collecting hockey cards for a while now, and the name Connor McDavid always pops up. I mean, the guy’s a beast on the ice, right? So, naturally, I wanted to get my hands on some of his cards, especially those Upper Deck ones. They’re like the gold standard for hockey cards.
I started by doing some digging online. Turns out, there are tons of McDavid cards out there! The database I found said there are over 7000 of them! Rookie cards, variations, you name it. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. But I was determined to add some to my collection.
The first thing I did was check out some online marketplaces. I found a bunch of listings, but the prices were all over the place. Some were a few bucks, others were hundreds or even thousands! I knew that the 2015 Upper Deck The Cup Rookie Autographed Patch card was like the holy grail, worth a fortune. I wasn’t ready to drop that kind of cash, though.
So, I started small. I found a few of his regular Upper Deck rookie cards from 2015. They weren’t super expensive, but still a cool addition to my collection. I snagged a couple of those, feeling pretty good about my purchase.
Then I started looking at some of the variation cards. There’s this one, the 2015-16 Fleer Showcase Precious Metal Gems card, that’s pretty rare. It’s numbered out of 150, which means there are only 150 of them in existence! I managed to find one for a decent price and decided to go for it. It felt like a real score.
Of course, I’m still dreaming about that 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup card. It’s numbered out of 99, even rarer than the Precious Metal Gems one. I’ve seen it online, and it’s a beauty. But the price is just insane. I mean, we’re talking tens of thousands of dollars here. I checked the price, it is about 28800 dollars! Maybe one day, when I win the lottery or something, I’ll be able to afford it.
Here’s what I ended up getting:
- A couple of regular Connor McDavid Upper Deck rookie cards from 2015.
- One 2015-16 Fleer Showcase Precious Metal Gems Connor McDavid RC, numbered out of 150.
And here’s what I’m still hoping to get someday:
- 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Connor McDavid RC #197, numbered out of 99.
It’s a slow process, building a collection. But it’s fun, and it’s cool to own a little piece of hockey history. Especially when it’s a player as amazing as Connor McDavid. Now I have three cards of him, so happy with that!
