Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another deep dive into the archives of sports history. Today, I’m gonna walk you through my journey of uncovering the 2007 Syracuse basketball roster. It wasn’t easy, but boy, was it a fun ride!

So, I started like I always do, by firing up my computer and hitting up the usual sports websites. I typed in “2007 Syracuse basketball roster,” and at first, I was met with a bunch of scattered info. I saw some mentions of the 2006-07 season and some stuff about the 2007-08 team. I even found an article talking about the head coach, Jim Boeheim. Interesting stuff, but not exactly what I was looking for.

I decided to dig a little deeper. I started browsing through the official Syracuse University website and archives. I stumbled upon some game details from back then. I remember seeing something about a game on December 21, and a player named Eddie Lampkin Jr. who scored 18 points. But still, no full roster.

Then it hit me – maybe I needed to look at it from a different angle. Instead of just searching for the roster, I started looking into individual players. I found this amazing piece about Lawrence Moten, a legend who played for Syracuse from 1992-95. He’s the top scorer in Syracuse history, with 2,334 points! This got me thinking about the legacy of Syracuse basketball and how each year’s team contributes to it.

I went back to the season records and pieced together bits of information. The 2006-07 season had a record of 24-11, which was adjusted to 2-11. That was a key piece of the puzzle. It told me that the 2007 roster was essentially the team that played in the 2006-07 season.

Finally, after hours of sifting through articles, stats, and historical data, I started to compile a list of names. I cross-referenced different sources to make sure I was getting it right. It was like putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle, but with names and numbers instead of shapes and colors.

Here’s What I Found:

  • The Team’s Record: The 2006-07 team, which is what we’re calling the 2007 roster, had a record of 24-11, adjusted to 2-11.
  • Coaching Legend: Jim Boeheim was the head coach. This guy’s a legend in Syracuse!
  • Historical Context: Syracuse University’s basketball program started in 1900, and they’ve only had eight full-time coaches since then. That’s some serious history!
  • Notable Players: Although I didn’t find a complete roster, I did find some names of players from that period. It’s a start, and it gives us a glimpse into the team’s makeup.

Putting this all together, I realized that compiling a sports roster from the past isn’t just about listing names. It’s about understanding the context, the history, and the stories behind each player and each season. It’s about appreciating the legacy of a team and how it evolves over time. This journey taught me a lot about Syracuse basketball, and I hope it gave you some insights too. Keep digging, keep exploring, and always stay curious!
