Alright, so I was messing around with the LA Times crossword the other day, and I got totally stuck. I mean, I was cruising along, feeling pretty good about myself, knocking out clues left and right. Then I hit this one: “Captain America star.”
My mind went completely blank. I mean, I know Captain America, right? I’ve seen the movies. But for the life of me, I couldn’t remember the name of the guy who plays him. I stared at those empty squares for what felt like forever.
I started running through all the Marvel actors I could think of. Robert Downey Jr.? Nope. That guy from Guardians of the Galaxy? Nope. I was getting nowhere fast.
Finally, I decided to swallow my pride and turn to the internet. I mean, it’s right there, right? So I pulled up Google and typed in “Captain America star LA Times crossword clue.”
- First result: a page promising the answer to the clue. Perfect!
- Second result: something about the “possible solutions” for the clue. Okay, getting warmer.
- Third result: a crossword solver website claiming to have 30 answers to the clue. 30 answers? Seriously?
I clicked around a few of these links, and it seemed like everyone was pointing to the same answer. And then, in one of the many search results that I just quickly scanned, I found the answer I was looking for.
And then I saw it. Chris Evans. Of course! It was so obvious. I felt a little silly for not remembering it, but mostly I was just relieved to have the answer.
I went back to the crossword, filled in the letters, and boom, I was back in the game. It’s funny how one little clue can trip you up like that. But hey, that’s what makes crosswords so fun, right? It’s always a challenge, and it’s always satisfying to finally crack the code.
I finished the rest of the crossword without too much trouble. Another small victory in my day.
In the end
I guess the lesson here is, don’t be afraid to use your resources. We’ve all got the internet at our fingertips, so why not use it? And hey, even if you don’t know the answer right away, there’s always a way to figure it out. It is not just about crosswords, but a lot of things in our life.
Also, Chris Evans is a pretty cool dude. I should probably watch those Captain America movies again. Or not, you know, it depends.
