Okay, so, let’s talk about Kenneth Walker in fantasy football. I’ve been messing around with fantasy football for a few years now, and this guy, Kenneth Walker, he’s been on my radar since he was a rookie. I mean I watched him and I’m starting to think that his first year might have been a fluke.
In 2022, I drafted him. I remember it clearly. He did pretty well, you know? He ran for over 1,050 yards and got 9 touchdowns in 15 games. I was like, “Okay, this guy’s the real deal.” I mean, those are solid numbers for a rookie, right? I was feeling pretty good about having him on my team. He was consistent, and that’s what you want in fantasy, especially from a running back. He was my RB2, and he didn’t disappoint.
- First season: 228 carries, 1,050 yards, 9 touchdowns.
Then, 2023 rolls around, and I’m thinking, “Alright, let’s see what he can do in his second year.” I kept him on my team, expecting him to build on that rookie performance. But honestly, he didn’t really improve much. I even tried to trade him a few times, I checked his trade value, and it was around 17.95, which put him as the 23rd running back. Not bad, but not what I was hoping for. There was even a time when his value went up to 24.19, but that didn’t last long.
I started doing some digging, reading up on what other people were saying about him. Some folks were comparing him to big-name running backs like Chubb and Jacobs, saying he wasn’t in their league. And yeah, I get that. He’s not putting up those superstar numbers. But I don’t think people should just write him off. I mean it is not easy being a running back.
He’s got the talent, no doubt. He can run the ball, that’s for sure. It’s just… he’s not getting those catches. He doesn’t get targeted in the passing game much. Maybe it’s the way the team’s using him, I don’t know. But that’s what’s holding him back from being a top-tier fantasy running back. You need those receptions to really rack up the points. So I looked at other players’ data and made adjustments.
My Two Cents
So, here’s the thing, I think he has potential. I really believe that. But I tried using different strategies. If he’s going to be a solid RB2 for your fantasy team, he needs to be in an offense that will really let him do his thing. And maybe, just maybe, start getting him involved in the passing game a bit more. If that happens, we could see a big jump in his performance. But for now, I’m keeping an eye on him. He’s on my watchlist, but I’m not ready to bet the farm on him just yet. He needs more touches and some help from the coach and he might just be great.
