So, I’ve been meaning to document this for a while now, and today’s the day. It’s about the Winnipeg Jets’ colors. Yeah, sounds simple, but it got a bit interesting.
I started by digging into the history of their jerseys. You know, just to get a feel for what they’ve worn over the years. Turns out, they’ve had quite a few changes. It’s like they couldn’t make up their minds!
First, I looked up some old photos of their early uniforms. I noticed that they used to have this classic blue and white thing going on. Pretty standard for a hockey team, right? But then, I stumbled upon something called the “Winnipeg Jets Whiteout.” Apparently, back in ’87, they asked fans to wear white to home games. Kinda cool, I guess.
Then I moved on to their more recent stuff. They had this one jersey, called “the Forty-Eight,” which was a tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force. I read that it was a collaboration with adidas, the RCAF, and the NHL. It was inspired by the jerseys worn by the RCAF Flyers back in 1948 when they won the gold medal. That’s some history right there.
- Found out they used the uniform from the 2019 Heritage Classic as their new alternate.
- Saw that they’re using those RCAF-inspired uniforms again for some games this season.
- Discovered that they made a big uniform change in the ’90s, but the colors stayed kinda the same.
After gathering all this, I started looking at their current colors. They use this navy blue and silver combo, which I think is pretty sharp. I also noticed they have a powder blue jersey with some red and darker blue accents. It’s all over their merchandise and stuff.
Finally, I put together a little summary of what I found:
- They’ve gone through a bunch of uniform changes.
- They have a tradition called the “Whiteout.”
- They’ve paid tribute to the RCAF with special jerseys.
- Their current colors are navy blue and silver, with some powder blue thrown in.
My conclusion
It was a fun little project, diving into the colors and history of the Winnipeg Jets. They’ve got a good thing going, and I think their fans are lucky to have such a cool team to root for.
