Okay, so, I wanted to mess around with a crossword puzzle today, one of those “alongside” ones. I hadn’t done one of these in ages, so I was kinda rusty. First thing I did was just hop on the internet and searched for “alongside crossword” to get some examples and refresh my memory.
I saw a bunch of different websites pop up, all about solving crossword puzzles. There was one called Merriam-Webster, which I know is a dictionary, so I clicked on that. It gave me a definition for some word, “cruciverbalist,” which apparently means someone who makes or solves crossword puzzles. I guess I’m a cruciverbalist today, haha. It also said doing crosswords helps with learning new words and stuff, so that’s good.
Then I looked at some other sites, all of them with answers and solutions for crossword clues. One site said there were 40 possible answers for “alongside,” another said 33, and yet another said 21. One website had answers like “STRIDEFORSTRIDE” which is a long one with 15 letters, and “AT” which is only 2 letters. That’s a pretty big range! Some others said they had 8 answers and 8 synonyms. So many options, it was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
Trying to Solve It
So, after browsing a bit, I decided to give it a shot myself. I found a crossword that had the “alongside” clue. I started filling in what I could. The longest solution I saw was “STRIDEFORSTRIDE” and the shortest was just “AT.”
I tried putting in some words that I thought might fit, like “WITH” and “NEXTTO.” They seemed to work okay, but I was still stuck on a few parts. The websites I looked at earlier gave hints like “Level area next to Bristol?” or “On the side of number restraining someone drinking again?” but I couldn’t figure those out, not gonna lie.
- Looked up “alongside crossword” online.
- Found websites with tons of answers.
- Tried solving a puzzle with the “alongside” clue.
- Got some words, but still stuck on others.
Honestly, it was tougher than I expected. I thought I would just breeze through it, but these clues are tricky! I guess that’s why people like doing them, though. It’s a good challenge. I’m not giving up, though. I’m gonna keep trying and maybe look at those websites again for more hints. Maybe tomorrow I’ll finally crack it. It’s a fun way to kill some time and keep my brain working, you know?
