I started collecting basketball cards when I was a kid. Recently, I found my old collection in the attic and got curious about their worth. I remember having a few Donruss cards, so I decided to focus on figuring out their value.
First, I sorted through all my cards and pulled out the ones that were Donruss. I noticed that I had cards from different years, so I organized them chronologically. I had some from 2021, 2022, and even a few from 2023.
Next, I needed to figure out how to actually determine their value. I remembered hearing about grading services, where you send your cards in and they rate their condition. Supposedly, this makes a big difference in how much they’re worth. But I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go through all that trouble yet.
I decided to do some digging online. I found that there are price guides available. I stumbled upon CollX app, a mobile app where you can scan your cards and it tells you their approximate value. It sounded pretty cool, so I downloaded it and tried it out.
The app was actually pretty easy to use. I just took pictures of my Donruss cards and it quickly identified them and showed me their estimated market prices. I saw that some of my 2022 Donruss cards, like the ones featuring Jalen Green and Cade Cunningham, had some decent value, especially if they were in good condition.
I also found some websites mentioned online, like Beckett and PSA, that offer appraisal services and more detailed price guides. I checked them out, and they seemed more comprehensive, with information on graded card values and historical prices.
My Findings
- 2023 Donruss: I only have a few of these, but I saw there are 5496 cards listed in the database. The most valuable one is supposedly the “2023 Donruss Hardwood” card.
- 2022 Donruss: I have more of these. They track 58 players in this set, including some popular ones like Jalen Green and Cade Cunningham.
- 2021 Donruss: These seem similar to the 2022 set, with a price guide and values for both graded and ungraded cards.
Overall, it was a fun trip down memory lane. I learned a lot about how to value basketball cards, and I discovered that some of my old Donruss cards might actually be worth something. I’m not sure if I’ll sell them yet, but it’s cool to know their potential value. I might even get some of them graded eventually, just to see what happens.
