Okay, so, I’ve been digging into the 2009 UConn basketball team lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started by checking out who was running the show, you know, the coach.
Turns out, back then, it was Jim Calhoun calling the shots for the Huskies. I watched some old interviews with him, man, he was a legend. This got me thinking, who’s coaching them now? Did a quick search and found out it’s Dan Hurley now. Seems like a solid guy, had some good experiences at Seton Hall as a player.
Next, I wanted to see where they played their games. Apparently, they split their time between the XL Center in Hartford and the Gampel Pavilion in Storrs. I looked up some pictures of both places, and they look pretty awesome. I imagined being there in the crowd, watching a game.
Then, I got curious about their 2009-2010 season. Found some old schedules and results, and man, they had a bunch of games! They kicked off against teams like American International and UMass Lowell. I tried to find the scores, and it looks like they won those games, like 83-58 and 82-63 or something like that.
- November 5, 2008: Beat American International with a score of 83-58.
- November 9, 2008: Won against UMass Lowell with a score of 82-63.
- November 14, 2008: Another win against Western Carolina, 81-55.
- November 17, 2008: Kept the streak going.
After that, I dove into the roster from that year. Lots of names, but I wanted to see if any of them made it big later on. I found this one guy, Stephon Castle, who seems to be doing well. I saw some lists ranking former UConn players, and he was right up there.
Then I kind of went down a rabbit hole, looking at their past tournament appearances. They were in the Final Four in 2009, which is huge! They also played in the National Invitation Tournament quite a few times, like 13 or something like that. It got pretty interesting, and I have a lot of notes about their scores and opponents.
Anyway, that’s where I’m at with this whole UConn basketball thing. It’s been a fun way to kill some time, and I’ve learned a bunch about the team’s history. I even started keeping track of their scores from the games I looked up. I realized that I can learn a lot just by exploring things I’m curious about. Maybe I’ll check out some other teams next, who knows!
