Hey there, you wanna know what to wear to a golf thing, huh? Well, I tell you, it ain’t as hard as these young folks make it out to be. You just gotta wear something comfy, you know? Something you can move around in. And don’t wear no clothes you can’t get dirty, because this is a sport, right?
I seen them ladies on the TV, playin’ golf. They all wear them nice clothes. But you don’t need to buy nothing fancy. Just wear what you got.
What you can wear
Shirts, now. You can wear them shirts with short sleeves, or no sleeves at all. Some of them got them collars that stand up a bit, them’s okay too. But don’t be wearin’ them skimpy things, like what you wear to the gym. No spaghetti straps. No halter tops, you hear? These ain’t no place for them kinda tops.

Now, for the bottoms. You can wear pants. Or shorts. Skirts, too. Just make sure they ain’t too short, now. We ain’t tryin’ to show off too much. And you don’t want no long, flowy skirts neither. You gonna trip all over them. I seen it happen. Them golf skirts, they are good. Some even got shorts built in, so you don’t gotta worry about nothing.

Shoes is important. You want somethin’ comfy on your feet. You gonna be doin’ a lot of walkin’. Them golf shoes with the little spikes on the bottom, them’s good. But if you ain’t got them, just wear some sneakers. Just make sure they got a good grip. You don’t want to be slippin’ and slidin’ all over the place.
Hats is good, too. Keep the sun outta your eyes. A visor works, too. Just somethin’ to keep you from squintin’ all day.
Colors and Patterns
Oh, and colors. Wear whatever colors you like. Bright colors is good, so people can see you. But don’t wear nothin’ too crazy, now. We ain’t tryin’ to scare the birds away. And them patterns is fine, too. Stripes, polka dots, whatever you like. Just have some fun with it. That’s important.
I remember one time, I seen a lady wearin’ a shirt with little golf clubs all over it. It was cute. And another one had a skirt with little golf balls on it. It’s fun to see what people come up with. This golf clothes fashion is getting really fun. But you don’t gotta wear all that if you don’t want to. Just wear what makes you feel good.
What you should NOT wear
Don’t wear no jeans. This ain’t no place for jeans. And don’t wear them tight, tight pants, neither. You need to be able to move. And no ripped clothes. This ain’t no rock concert.
And like I said before, no skimpy tops. Keep it classy, ladies. And no high heels. You gonna sink right into the grass. I seen it happen. A lady all dressed up, tryin’ to walk on the grass in them high heels. She looked like a newborn baby deer, wobblin’ all over the place. It weren’t pretty.
Now if it is cold outside, wear a sweater or a jacket. But you can take it off if you get too hot. I always say, it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. That’s what my mama always said.
And make sure your clothes fit right. You don’t want nothin’ too tight, restrictin’ your swing. And you don’t want nothin’ too loose, gettin’ in the way. Just somethin’ comfortable, that you can move around in. It is important to be able to swing them golf clubs around. The LPGA and RA say you gotta be able to swing easy, so keep that in mind.
Just be yourself
So there you have it. Just wear what you like, what makes you feel good. Don’t worry too much about what everyone else is wearin’. Just be yourself. That’s the most important thing.

I found a real nice golf skirt at a thrift store once. It was only five dollars! Can you believe it? Five dollars! And it was in perfect condition. So don’t be afraid to look around. You might be surprised what you find.
