You know, that Arizona Coyotes, they play that hockey, right? They slide around on the ice, hit that little puck. My grandson, he loves it. Me? I don’t get it, but hey, to each their own. But you wanna know what these fellas get paid, these Arizona Coyotes salaries? It’s a whole lot of money, let me tell ya.
They got all these numbers, these salary cap things. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me. But it’s how they keep track of all the money, I guess. This one fella, he gets paid more than the next. It’s confusing, all the players’ salaries. They say the Arizona Coyotes salary cap is important. Why? I don’t know, and frankly, I don’t care. Just seems like a lot of fuss over a game, if you ask me.
One year, they had this record, 25 wins, 50 losses, and something called 7 points. That was back in 2021 to 2022. Sounds like they lost more than they won, huh? Then the next year it was something like 36 wins and 41 losses, 5 points, this was in 2023 to 2024. Don’t ask me what the points are about. It’s something about hockey, I think. I know nothing about hockey. The Arizona Coyotes’ record is like a roller coaster, up and down, up and down. But they’re still gettin’ paid, win or lose. That’s the world, I guess.
Back in 2020 to 2021, their record was 24 wins, 26 losses, 6 points. They talk about this Coyotes cap space. More money talk. Like I said, a whole lot of money flyin’ around. These young fellas, skating around, gettin’ paid millions. Back in my day, we worked hard for our money. Not saying they don’t work hard, but it’s different, you know?
- They got this thing, this salary cap, that’s different from other sports.
- Baseball and basketball, they do it different.
- Hockey, they got this hard cap.
Hard cap, soft cap, it’s all the same to me. Just a bunch of numbers. They say the average team has $25 million left for next season in the NHL salary cap. But they need to set aside $7 million of that to re-sign players. I don’t know who makes these rules, but there you go. They call them restricted free agents, another strange word. In 2022/23, the Arizona Coyotes revenue is 127 million U.S. dollars. Can you believe that?
And then there’s this other team, the Colorado Avalanche. They got the highest payroll, whatever that means. They get paid $125.3 million. That’s even more than the Coyotes. More money than I can even imagine. Imagine having that much money. I’d buy a new rocking chair, that’s for sure. And maybe a new cow. And I’d give some to my grandson, of course. He loves that hockey.
They used to play in some place called Glendale, at the Gila River Arena. But then in 2021, Glendale said, “No more!” They didn’t renew the agreement. Said they wanted to focus on bigger events. So the Coyotes had to scramble, find a new place to play. It’s all business, I guess. These bigwigs, always making deals, moving things around. But the Arizona Coyotes cap is going to be a major point in the next few seasons. They need to figure things out.
These Arizona Coyotes players’ salaries, it’s a lot to keep track of. This one gets this much, that one gets that much. They got incentives, too. Like bonuses, I reckon. If they do good, they get more money. Makes sense, I guess. You work hard, you get rewarded. But still, it’s a lot of money for playing a game. My grandson, he plays for free. Just for the fun of it. But this Arizona Coyotes team payroll, it is just too big for me to understand. I just know that hockey is a difficult game.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about these Arizona Coyotes and their money. It’s a lot, that’s for sure. Too much for this old lady to worry about, really. I got other things to think about. Like my garden, and my chickens, and my grandson. He’s a good boy. He’s gonna be a hockey player one day, maybe. Then he’ll be making all that money. And maybe he’ll buy his grandma a new rocking chair. A nice one, with cushions. That would be nice.
