Well, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this TCU basketball game against Oklahoma. It’s gonna be a real barn burner, I reckon. These young fellas, they run up and down that court faster than a greased pig at the county fair. And shootin’ that ball! My oh my, they can shoot!
Now, I heard some folks talkin’ down at the feed store the other day. They was sayin’ TCU, they got the number 8 seed. And Oklahoma, they got the number 9. Sounds like some kinda fancy lottery to me. But what it means is, these teams, they’re about as even as two mules in a harness. Should be a close one, that’s for sure.
They’re playin’ in that Big 12 Championship. I think that’s what they call it. Sounds important. Lots of teams, all wantin’ to be the best. Just like when we used to have pie bakin’ contests at the church social. Everyone bringin’ their best, hopin’ to win that blue ribbon. Except these boys ain’t bakin’ pies, they’re throwin’ a ball around. These young fellas play real hard.
I seen a few of these games on the television. That little box, it’s a miracle, ain’t it? Shows ya the whole world right there in your livin’ room. Anyway, these TCU boys, they got some tall fellas. And Oklahoma, they got some quick ones. Gonna be a real battle under that basket, I tell ya. Lots of pushin’ and shovin’. Reminds me of when my old rooster used to fight with the neighbor’s rooster. Feathers flyin’ everywhere!
- TCU’s got 20 wins, I hear.
- Oklahoma’s got 20 wins, too.
- They playin’ on a Wednesday.
- That’s a school day!
This game, it’s gonna be on the TV on Wednesday, that’s what I heard. I think they said 2 o’clock. Right in the middle of the day! Who’s gonna watch it? Don’t these young people have school? Back in my day, we didn’t have time for such foolishness. We was too busy tendin’ to the chores. But times change, I guess.
I remember once, my grandson, he tried to explain this whole basketball thing to me. He was goin’ on about “offense” and “defense” and “three-pointers.” Sounded like a foreign language! All I know is, they gotta get that ball in that hoop more times than the other fellas. That’s how ya win, right? Simple as that. TCU basketball vs Oklahoma, who’s the better?
Now, I ain’t no expert on this basketball, mind ya. I’m just an old lady who likes to watch a good game every now and then. But I got a feelin’ this one’s gonna be a good one. Lots of excitement, lots of action. These young fellas, they sure can jump! Reminds me of when a goat gets loose in the garden. Never know where they’re gonna end up next! This is a great match of TCU vs Oklahoma.
One thing’s for sure, I’ll be watchin’. Got my popcorn ready and my comfy chair all set up. Might even call up my neighbor, Mildred. She loves basketball almost as much as she loves her bingo. We’ll hoot and holler at that screen like a couple of old hens at a fox. It’ll be a real hootenanny!
I heard some folks are bettin’ money on this game. They call it “the over” and “the under.” Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. Gamblin’ is a sin, that’s what my mama always said. But I guess some folks just can’t help themselves. They get a thrill out of riskin’ their hard-earned money on somethin’ as silly as a basketball game.
These Oklahoma boys, they’re gonna try to win, that’s for sure. They ain’t gonna just roll over and play dead. They’re ranked number 9, you know! They’ll be fightin’ tooth and nail for every point. Just like a mama bear protectin’ her cubs. Fierce, they are. They’re gonna play their hearts out. It will be a good game.
- This game is important.
- Lots of people will watch.
- It’s gonna be close.
- Both teams want to win the Big 12 Championship.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on a Wednesday afternoon, and you like watchin’ a bunch of young fellas run around and throw a ball, then this TCU vs Oklahoma game might just be for you. I think it’s gonna be a real nail-biter, right down to the wire. And who knows, maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two about this crazy game they call basketball. Maybe I’ll finally figure out what a “double dribble” is! Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
One time, my old man, bless his soul, he took me to a basketball game. It was a long time ago. I don’t remember much about it, except there was a lot of screamin’ and yellin’. And the floor was so shiny, I thought I was gonna slip and fall just lookin’ at it! And the players, they was sweatin’ like a horse after a long day of plowin’. It was somethin’ else, I tell ya. This is the Big 12 Championship, it is important.
Well, I reckon I’ve rambled on long enough. My old bones are gettin’ tired, and my eyes are startin’ to close. But I’m lookin’ forward to that game on Wednesday. It’ll be a nice change of pace from my usual routine of watchin’ the soaps and tendin’ to my garden. And who knows, maybe TCU will win! Wouldn’t that be somethin’ to brag about down at the beauty parlor?
