Well, let me tell you about this Cortland football camp thing. My grandson, he’s crazy about football, you know? Always tossin’ that ball around. So, I heard about this camp up in Cortland. Sounds like a big deal, for kids who wanna learn football. They call ’em the Red Dragons. Sounds fierce, huh?
They got this camp for the young’uns, from 7 years old to 13, I reckon. They split ’em up into two teams, red and white. Like a little competition, you see? Makes it more fun, I suppose. Keeps ’em on their toes.
And get this, they get to learn from the college boys, the real players and them coaches. Imagine that! Little Timmy learning from the big guys. They even have movie nights. Sounds like they treat ’em real good up there.
They said this camp is all about makin’ the kids feel good about themselves, you know, buildin’ that confidence. And teachin’ ’em the right way to play, the skills and all that. They even work on playin’ together as a team. That’s important, teamwork.
- They play in a real nice place, where them college players play.
- They say them college players, they fight for the big prize every year. The national championships they call it.
- Must be somethin’ special.
I saw somethin’ online, they said they was just two weeks away from their first Cortland Football Elite Camp. Must be for the real good players, I guess. They got a sign up, somewhere. Maybe I can get little Timmy signed up, if he’s good enough.
Seems like they been doin’ this camp thing for a long time, since ’96, if you can believe it. They won some big games too, them Red Dragons. Some kind of playoffs, six times, and they was the best in their group, their conference, seven times. That’s a lot of winnin’.
They had a big camp for the high school teams too. Eleven teams, all playin’ and gettin’ better. Sounds like a busy place, this Cortland. Always somethin’ goin’ on.
They got all sorts of things up there, not just football. They got this thing called Recreational Sports, and a big dragon statue, I guess. They even give out awards to some special folks, these Red Letter things. Must be important.
They even got a big game comin’ up, the Red Dragons. Playin’ against some other teams, Endicott or Alfred State, or somethin’ like that. It’s a big deal, this playoff thing. They call it NCAA Division III. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
This Cortland place, it’s a college, you know. State University of New York at Cortland. That’s what they call it. They got all kinds of sports, but the football team, them Red Dragons, they play in a different group, the Empire 8. Don’t ask me what that means.
So, this Cortland football camp, it sounds like a good thing for the kids. They learn football, they have fun, they get to play with the big boys. Maybe little Timmy will be a Red Dragon someday. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
These camps, I reckon, they’re good for the kids. They need to be runnin’ around, gettin’ exercise. Better than sittin’ around all day, starin’ at them screens, like they do nowdays. It is good to have some Cortland football camp. This camp, it teaches ’em somethin’, too. How to play the game, how to work together. Important things, you know?
And these coaches, they sound like good folks. They want the kids to learn, to improve. Not just in football, but in life, too. Buildin’ that confidence, that’s what they say. That’s important, especially for the young’uns. They need to believe in themselves. And these Red Dragons, they seem to know how to do that.
Well, that’s all I know about this Cortland football camp. Sounds like a busy place, with all them games and camps and whatnot. But a good place, I reckon. A good place for the kids.
