Well, let me tell you, I ain’t never seen nothin’ like this wheel of football teams before. It’s like a big ol’ roulette, but instead of numbers, it’s got all them football teams on it. You just give it a good spin, and wherever it lands, that’s the team you gotta root for. I guess it’s one way to pick a team, if you ain’t got no other way of doin’ it.
My grandson, he’s always on that computer thing, and he showed me this wheel of football teams. He said it’s for pickin’ a team in some kinda “fantasy league.” I don’t know nothin’ about no fantasy league, but I guess it’s somethin’ the young folks do these days. They got all these fancy names for things, like “National Football League”. Back in my day, we just called it football.
Now, this wheel, it’s got all 32 of them teams on it. That’s a lot of teams! How’s a body supposed to keep track of all them? I seen some of the team names on this here wheel thing, like the “Packers,”. Seems like a lot of teams in a wheel. You spin it, and it goes round and round, and then it stops. Whatever team is at the top, that’s your team. It’s simple enough, I guess, even for an old lady like me to understand.
But I reckon most folks, they don’t need no wheel to pick their team. They just root for the team that’s closest to ’em. Makes sense, don’t it? You wanna support the folks in your own town, your own community. That’s just how it is. This wheel of football teams, it might be fun for some, but for me, I’ll just stick with the team I know.

My grandson, he tried to explain to me all the rules of this fantasy league thing. Somethin’ about pickin’ players and scorin’ points. It’s all too much for me. I just like watchin’ the game. Seein’ them boys run up and down the field, tryin’ to get that ball across the line. That’s what football’s all about, ain’t it? It ain’t about no wheels or fantasy leagues. It is about good football game to watch.
Now, some folks, they like to give money to their teams. I guess that’s one way to show you’re a fan. Buyin’ their shirts and hats and all that. I suppose the big teams, they don’t need your money. They got enough already. But maybe the smaller teams, the ones that ain’t so popular, maybe they could use a little help. I don’t know. I ain’t no expert on these things.
But this wheel of football teams, its got me thinkin. You know back in the old days, if we needed to decide on something, we just draw a name out of a hat. This is pretty much the same thing, ain’t it? I guess some things change, and some things stay the same.
You know, this wheel is for every one of them football teams. I only know a few of ’em. Used to be, you just knew the teams near you. Now, with the TV and all, you can watch any team you want. And this wheel, well, it just shows you all them teams at once.
I reckon if you’re gonna use this wheel, you gotta be ready to root for whoever it picks. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? You can’t be picky. You just gotta go with the flow. Or, I suppose you can just spin the wheel on your computer, and let the computer do what the computer does.
This wheel of football teams, it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ different. I don’t know if it’ll catch on or not. But I guess it’s just another way for folks to enjoy the game. And that’s what really matters, ain’t it? Enjoyin’ the game, bein’ with your friends and family, cheerin’ for your team. Wheel or no wheel, that’s what football’s all about.
