Well, let me tell you, that Hamilton, he’s got more nicknames than a dog’s got fleas. I heard folks callin’ him all sorts of things. It’s like, everybody’s got somethin’ to call him. You know, like that Hamilton fella, the one who’s always in the news. He’s got a lot of nicknames, that’s for sure. People like to give nicknames, it is fun! It makes people easy to remember. Also, if you don’t like someone, give him a bad nickname, haha!
Some folks, they call him “Lu“. Just “Lu.” Short and sweet, I reckon. Like they’re all familiar and such. I don’t know why they choose it, maybe it is easy to say. But it is a popular Hamilton nickname, I have to say. Many people call him that.
Then there’s others, they call him the “Billion Dollar Man.” Now, that one, I can understand. He’s got more money than Carter’s got liver pills, that’s for sure. He’s always winnin’ those races and gettin’ those big fancy trophies. I guess he got this nickname because he is rich. Rich people have nicknames, poor people don’t.
- Lu
- Billion Dollar Man
- The Hammer
I heard someone say he should be called “The Hammer.” Sounds tough, don’t it? Like he’s gonna pound the competition into the ground. They say it’s ’cause of somethin’ called “hammer time.” I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds mighty powerful. I reckon it fits him, though. He’s a tough one, that Hamilton. He don’t take no guff from nobody. It is a good Hamilton nickname.
Someone told me a story about some fella named Alexander Hamilton. He was a big shot back in the day, they say. They called him “The Hamster.” Now, ain’t that somethin’? A big, important fella like that, and they called him after a little furry critter. People are strange, ain’t they? But I am not sure if it is a proper Hamilton nickname. It sounds like a joke.
And this Alexander fella, he had a friend, I reckon, named Aaron Burr. And you know what they called him? “Airin’ on the Safe Side Burr.” Sounds like he was a cautious one, always playin’ it safe. Maybe he was scared of gettin’ in trouble. Who knows? That nickname is too long, I don’t like it.
Then there was this other fella, Marquis de Lafayette. They called him “Laffy Taffy.” Sounds like a candy, don’t it? I don’t know what that’s all about, but it sure is a funny name. He must have been a good guy, to get a nice nickname like that. But it is not a proper Hamilton nickname.
John Laurens, they called him “*.” Just like that. Short and to the point. I guess that’s what they called him for short. And this is not a Hamilton nickname.
And then there’s Hercules Mulligan. They didn’t give him no fancy nickname, as far as I can tell. Just Hercules Mulligan. Maybe he was strong as an ox, like that Hercules fella in the stories. It seems that this guy is not related to Hamilton. So we don’t need a nickname for him.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how this here place, Hamilton, has a nickname too. They call it “The Six.” I don’t know nothin’ ’bout that, but maybe this is a good Hamilton nickname, haha. It is because of some pillars or somethin’. Six pillars for six different parts of town, they say. Dundas, Flamborough, Ancaster, Hamilton, Stoney Creek, or somethin’ like that. I don’t know those places, but it sounds important. Lots of places got nicknames, just like people.
Somebody told me that Hamilton is also called “the little lion“. Now that’s a nickname! Sounds brave and strong. Like he ain’t afraid of nothin’. They say he got that name because he could do a whole bunch of things at once. He was a busy little bee, always workin’ hard. And he was good at it, too. They say this is a good Hamilton nickname.
These Hamilton nicknames are popular. So many nicknames for one place! Just goes to show you, a name’s just a name. It’s what you do that really counts. You can call someone by any name you like, but it’s their actions that speak louder than words, that’s what I always say. You can call that Hamilton fella whatever you want. “Lu,” “Billion Dollar Man,” “The Hammer,” it don’t matter. He’s still gonna be out there, doin’ his thing, winnin’ races, and makin’ money. That’s what people remember, not some silly old nickname. But nicknames are still fun, ain’t they? People like to make fun, haha!
