That darn NYT, always got somethin’ new to figure out. This time, it’s this “dig up” thing. Sounds like plantin’ taters, but I reckon it ain’t. Gotta dig up the dirt on this whole shebang.
First thing’s first, gotta know what we’re dealin’ with. I hear tell it’s some kind of puzzle. Like them crossword things, but fancier. Folks say it gets harder as the week goes on. Monday’s easy, like findin’ your shoes in the mornin’. Saturday’s a real head-scratcher, like tryin’ to remember where you put your teeth at night.
Now, how’s a body supposed to get their hands on this thing? They say you gotta sign up for some trial. Sounds like a whole lot of hocus pocus to me. Or maybe find one of them libraries. Got lots of books and such. But some folks are real smart, they use that Google thing to get around payin’. That’s what I hear, anyways. Student discounts is a thing, too. Less money for them young’uns still in school. Makes sense, don’t it?
There’s these stars, too, gold and blue. Gold ones is for folks who get it all right, quick as a wink, before midnight. Blue ones is for the rest of us, who take our sweet time. Just like me, sometimes I remember things right away, sometimes I gotta sleep on it.
- Monday: Easy peasy, like shelling peas.
- Saturday: Hard as a rock, like that time I tried to crack a walnut with my bare hands.
- Sunday: Somewhere in the middle, like Goldilocks’ porridge.
Some folks say the clues give it away. Monday clues are plain as day. Saturday clues are tricky, like a fox in the henhouse. Gotta use your thinkin’ cap for those. Sunday puzzles ain’t so bad, they say.
Now, if you really wanna “dig up” somethin’, don’t just go pokin’ around on that internet. Find yourself someone who already knows the answers. Ask ’em straight up. They might be in a hurry at first, but just keep at it. Persistence, that’s the key. Just like gettin’ a stubborn mule to move. You just gotta keep talkin’ to it.
And don’t think there’s some magic trick to gettin’ good at these puzzles. Just gotta practice, practice, practice. Like learnin’ to ride a bike, you’re gonna fall a few times. And if you see something and your head starts thinkin’. Best to just stop all that thinkin’ first. Then maybe you will find what you need. No easy way around it.
Gotta be smart about searchin’ for things online, too. Use the right search engine, they say. There’s a whole bunch of ’em out there. Like choosin’ the right tool for the job. Can’t use a hoe to milk a cow, can ya?
And when you’re lookin’ for that “dig up” answer, remember the date. June 2nd, 2024, that’s the one they was talkin’ about. The New York Times Crossword, that’s the culprit. “Dig up” is just one little piece of the puzzle.
Need to be able to refine your search, they say. It means to make it more clear. Narrow it down. Like lookin’ for a needle in a haystack, you gotta know what kind of needle you’re lookin’ for. Gotta know what you want. If you want to dig up an answer, gotta know the question.
This whole “dig up” thing, it ain’t so simple. It takes a lot of work. Gotta use your head, ask around, and keep on tryin’. Just like life, ain’t nothin’ handed to ya. You gotta dig for it yourself. And sometimes you just need to be patient and keep searchin’, the answer will come to you. Just gotta be smarter than that darn puzzle, that’s all.
I hope this helps you. It is not easy, but not too hard. Just need to find what you looking for. Be smart and find what you need. I think that’s all you need to know, but keep diggin’ if you want to find out more.
