Yo, lemme tell ya somethin’ ’bout them famous white basketball players. Lots of folks out there playin’ that game, bouncin’ that ball and throwin’ it in the hoop. Some of ’em, they’re real good, ya know? They get real famous. And some of ’em, they’re white. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, no sir. Just sayin’, there’s some white fellas out there who can really play that game.
Now, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this one fella, Larry Bird. They say he’s somethin’ else. Played back in the day, like, before some of y’all were even born! They say he was the best, this Larry Bird. Best white fella to ever play, that’s what they say. He played from, uh, 1979 to 1992. That’s a long time, ain’t it? He musta been real good to play that long. Probably won a whole bunch of them games, too. They call it NBA, I think. Yeah, that’s it. NBA.
And this Bird fella, he played for a team. The, uh, Celtics. That’s it. The Celtics. Back when he played, they say that team had a whole bunch of white fellas on it. Like, eight of ’em! Eight out of thirteen, that’s more than half! That Larry Bird, and some other fellas named, uh, Kevin, and Bill, and Jerry, and Danny, and another one named Scott. Lots of white fellas on that team. And they won a whole bunch, back in, uh, 1986. That’s a long time ago, ain’t it?
Nowadays, they got all kinds of folks playin’ in the NBA. Black folks, white folks, folks from all over. It’s all mixed up now. It is 2023 now! They say more than half of them are black fellas, and, like, less than half are white. Some fellas from other places, too. But back in the day, it was different, ya know? Used to be, there weren’t so many black folks playin’. They started playin’ in, uh, 1950, I think they said. Long time ago.
But there are still some good white players today, too. Heard ’em talkin’ ’bout this one young fella, Luka Dončić. They say he’s real good. Plays for one of them teams now, I can’t remember which one. But they say he’s one to watch. Gonna be a big star, that Luka. You just wait and see.

And there was another one, Kevin Love. He was a good one, too, they say. Played a while back, not too long ago. He was one of them “All-NBA” fellas, they call it. Means he was one of the best, I reckon. And another one named David Lee. He was good, too. Played around the same time as that Kevin Love.
So, yeah, there’s been a whole bunch of them famous white basketball players. They play that game, they bounce that ball, they throw it in the hoop. They get famous, they make a lot of money. It’s a good life, I reckon, if you can play that game good enough. That Larry Bird, he was the best, they say. But there’s been others, too. That Luka fella, he might be the next one. You just wait and see.
Now, this basketball thing, it’s a big deal. People all over watch it on that TV. They cheer for their favorite teams, their favorite players. It’s a whole thing, ya know? And it don’t matter if you’re white, or black, or whatever. If you can play, you can play. That’s the way it should be, ain’t it? Everybody gets a chance.
I remember back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy basketball games like they do now. We just had a hoop nailed up to the old barn, and we’d throw the ball around. Didn’t matter who you were, just as long as you could throw that ball in the hoop. We had a good time, though. Just like them fellas on TV, I reckon. Just playin’ the game, havin’ fun. It all comes down to how good you can put that ball in the hoop, I reckon. The color of your skin, well, that don’t matter much.
These famous white basketball players, they worked hard to get where they are. Practiced a lot, I bet. Just like anybody else who wants to be good at somethin’. You gotta put in the time, the effort. You can’t just expect to be good without tryin’. That Larry Bird, he probably practiced every day. That Luka fella, too, I bet. All them fellas, they all worked hard.
So, that’s what I know ’bout them famous white basketball players. There’s been a bunch of ’em, and there’ll probably be a bunch more. It’s a good game, that basketball. Keeps you fit, keeps you movin’. And if you’re good enough, maybe you can get famous, too. Just like them fellas I been tellin’ ya ’bout. Just remember what I said. It don’t matter what color you are. If you can play, you can play. That’s all there is to it. The best white NBA players, they’re just good players, plain and simple. And there’s nothin’ wrong with that. Nope, nothin’ at all.
