Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here “apt golf tour schedule” thing.
What is this APT golf thingy anyway? I heard tell it’s one of them fancy golf tours for the young fellas, the ones just outta college or them real good young’uns, like 16 or older. They say it’s to get ’em ready for the big leagues, that PGA tour. Sounds like a lot of hooplah to me, but what do I know? There’s a bunch of these golf tours, more than 20 they say, all run by different folks. They gotta find the money and set up the games, I guess.
How do these young’uns get on the tour? Well, it ain’t easy, I reckon. They gotta go to somethin’ called “Q-School,” sounds like a real test, or they gotta play good in the smaller tours to get noticed. Kinda like workin’ your way up, I s’pose.
So, what’s this schedule all about? Now, they just finished up the 2023 games, and they got the 2024 schedule all set. They’re gonna have 11 of these golf get-togethers, and they’re startin’ in the same place they always do, Alexandria. Been doin’ that for 15 years, they say.

- They play in 6 different states, that’s a lot of travelin’ if you ask me.
- They got a website, but I ain’t got no use for that. My grandkid showed me once, but it’s all just a jumble to me. They say you can find the whole schedule there.
What’s in it for them golfers? Well, I heard tell they play for a good chunk of change. The winner of one of these tournaments gets at least $20,000. That’s more money than I seen in my whole life, I betcha. Enough to buy a whole lotta beans and taters.
And what about this Chicago golf thing? Seems like they got this “APT Chicago” too. It’s for the amateur golfers, the ones who ain’t pros yet. They play on them fancy golf courses in Chicago. My neighbor’s boy went to Chicago once, said it was a big, noisy place. I’ll stick to my chickens, thank you very much.
When do they play these games? I saw somethin’ about a game at the end of November, November 29th to December 1st, somethin’ like that. Seems late in the year to be hittin’ them little balls around, but what do I know? I’d be bundled up inside with a cup of somethin’ warm.
All these golf games and schedules sound complicated, eh? Too much for this old gal. I’ll stick to watchin’ the birds and tendin’ my garden.
