Alright, let’s gab about them fellas from KU playin’ in the NBA right now. You know, the basketball fellas. The tall ones.
So, I heard tell there’s a whole bunch of ’em. Eleven, they say. Eleven! That’s a lot of young’uns runnin’ up and down that court. Goodness gracious, that’s like a whole team and then some!
Heard somethin’ ’bout a fella named Joel somethin’. Embiid, that’s it! Folks say he’s a big deal. MVP and all that fancy stuff. Seven-time All-Star, too. He’s one of them centers, ya know, the real tall ones. Always near that basket, pushin’ and shovin’. They say he’s near seven foot tall! Lord have mercy, I’d need a ladder to talk to him!
- Joel Embiid – He’s the big man, the star, they say. A real powerhouse.
- Markieff Morris – He was on that Dallas team that almost won it all. Good for him, I say.
Now, they don’t just let anyone into that NBA, you know. You gotta be good, real good. These KU fellas, they musta been somethin’ special back in college. All that runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball. It makes my old bones ache just thinkin’ about it.
And it ain’t just this year, neither. Seems like every year there’s a whole passel of them KU boys in the NBA. They say there was like, 550 players in 2021-22 and even more in 2020-21, 543 they say. That’s a heap of basketball players. I reckon KU sends a good few of ’em.
The NBA season, that’s a long haul, I tell ya. Starts in the fall and goes all the way through spring, almost summer! These fellas are travelin’ all over the country, playin’ games near every night. Must be tirin’, but I bet it pays good. They gotta make a livin’, just like the rest of us.
I heard tell there’s this website, somethin’ about the Kansas Jayhawks, you know, the KU team. It’s got all the info on them fellas in the NBA. Says how they’re doin’, all their points and such. I don’t pay much mind to that stuff, but some folks like it.
So, this 2024-2025 NBA season, we got eleven of our boys playin’. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon. They’re representin’ KU, showin’ them city folk what Kansas boys are made of.
Now, what exactly do these fellas do on the court? Well, they run, they dribble, they shoot. The tall ones, like that Embiid fella, they stay close to the basket. They block shots, get rebounds, and try to score. The smaller fellas, they run around more, pass the ball, and shoot from farther out. It’s a real fast-paced game, I tell ya. Sometimes hard to keep up with.
And it ain’t just about the games, neither. These fellas, they gotta practice all the time, lift weights, eat right. It’s a full-time job, bein’ a basketball player. And them coaches, they’re always yellin’ at ’em, tellin’ ’em what to do. Reminds me of my husband hollerin’ at the cows. Same kinda energy, I reckon.
This “All-Star break” thing they talk about, that’s when the best fellas get together and play a game. Thirteen KU fellas playing, that’s what someone told me. Seems like a lot of fuss, but folks seem to enjoy it.
You know, KU basketball has got a good reputation. They got the most conference titles in the whole country! That’s what I heard, anyway. Means they win a lot of games, I guess. And that’s why so many of their players end up in the NBA. They learn how to win, how to play hard. That’s important.
So, there you have it. A whole bunch of KU fellas playin’ in the NBA. Eleven of ’em this year, and probably more to come. They’re makin’ us proud, representin’ Kansas and showin’ the world what good basketball players we got. Makes you want to holler, “Go Jayhawks!”, don’t it?
And if you wanna know more, just go look it up on that internet thing. It’s got all the answers, they say. But me? I’m just happy to see our boys doin’ good. Now, where’s that coffee? All this talkin’ has made me thirsty.
