Hey there, y’all! Let’s jaw about this Columbia High football, you hear? It’s a big deal ’round here, like a barn raisin’ but with more yellin’ and runnin’.
First off, them Wildcats, that’s our team. They got a website and all, fancy stuff. Says somethin’ ’bout “Columbia Capitals” too, guess that’s another name for ’em. They got pictures and schedules and all that jazz on there. You know, so you know when to go holler and cheer.
Now, they’re sellin’ these here “season tickets.” Means you get to see all the home games, five of ’em, for $75. That ain’t chicken feed, but it’s cheaper than buyin’ a ticket each time, I reckon. They say it’s gonna be a “historic season” in a “new stadium.” Sounds mighty important, like when the county fair came to town. They want us to “come be a part” of it, so I guess that means showin’ up and makin’ some noise.
If you ain’t got no season ticket, you gotta buy a regular ticket each game. Used to be six dollars, but now it’s seven. Guess them footballs and helmets cost a pretty penny. School board, whoever they are, they said it was okay to raise the price. Probably needed more money for… well, for whatever them city folks spend money on.
- Support the Wildcats! That’s what they keep sayin’. Means go to the games, clap real loud, and maybe wear some of them maroon and gold clothes. They sell them clothes too, shirts and hats and such, with the Wildcat on ’em. You can buy ’em online, if you know how to do that computer stuff.
- Tickets! Tickets! They got special ways to get tickets too. If you got a kid playin’ on the team, you can buy four tickets through somethin’ called a “student portal.” Sounds complicated. They also got tickets for students and “seniors,” that’s us old folks, I guess. Fifty tickets, first come first served. So you gotta get there early if you want one.
They got this here #MaroonandGold and #CAPS thing goin’ on too. Hashtags, they call ’em. For that internet stuff again. I don’t rightly understand it, but the young’uns seem to like it. Guess it’s how they spread the word ’bout the games and such.
This Columbia High football, it’s a real community thing. Brings folks together, you know? Like a big potluck supper, but with more bumpin’ and thumpin’. You got the players, runnin’ and sweatin’, and the cheerleaders, shakin’ their pom-poms, and the crowd, yellin’ their fool heads off. It’s a good time, even if you don’t know a touchdown from a touchback. Just holler when everyone else hollers, you’ll fit right in.
They been playin’ this football for a long time, I reckon. Generations of kids wearin’ them maroon and gold colors, runnin’ up and down that field. It’s somethin’ special, somethin’ to be proud of. So, even if you ain’t a big football fan, go on out and support them Wildcats. It’s good for the soul, you know? And maybe, just maybe, they’ll win a game or two.
And don’t forget, they want you to “Come out and support our Wildcats”. That’s the main thing, you know? Showin’ up and lettin’ them kids know you’re proud of ‘em. That’s what community’s all about. So put on your maroon and gold, grab a ticket, and come on down to the stadium. It’s gonna be a hoot!
So there you have it, a whole mess of words about Columbia High football. Hope it all makes sense. If not, well, just go to a game and see for yourself. It’s better than listenin’ to an old woman ramble on, that’s for sure. Now, y’all get goin’, and don’t forget to cheer loud!
