Well, hey there! Let’s talk about this here… uh… Virginia University of Lynchburg football roster thing. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But don’t you worry, I’ll make it plain as day, just like Ma used to make biscuits.
So, this Virginia University of Lynchburg, they got themselves a football team. A whole bunch of young’uns, runnin’ around and throwin’ a ball. And this “roster” thing, it’s just a list. Yep, a list of all them boys playin’ football. Like when you make a list for the grocery store, only this one’s got names and numbers, not eggs and milk.
Now, they call ‘em the “Dragons.” I ain’t never seen a real dragon, but I reckon they must be fierce, just like these boys on the field. They got all sorts of players, big ones, small ones, fast ones, strong ones. Like a whole barnyard full of different critters, all workin’ together.
This here list, the roster, it tells you who’s who. It’ll say things like, “This fella, he’s a quarterback.” That’s the one throwin’ the ball, see? Important fella, he is. Then there’s the fellas catchin’ the ball, the ones runnin’ with the ball, and the big fellas up front, pushin’ and shovin’ like hogs at a trough.
- Quarterback: The fella throwing the ball.
- Running Back: The fella running with the ball.
- Wide Receiver: The fella catching the ball.
- Linemen: The big fellas pushing and shoving.
And the roster, it don’t just tell you their names and what they do. It’ll tell you how tall they are, how much they weigh, and when they were born. Like a bunch of prize-winning pumpkins at the county fair. They even got their “years of experience” on there. That’s just how long they’ve been playin’ this football game.
Now, some folks, they get all worked up about this roster. They wanna know who’s new, who’s old, who’s gonna be good this year. It’s like pickin’ the best watermelon in the patch. You gotta look ‘em over real good, see who’s ripe and ready to go. ESPN and CBS Sports, they got all this information, too. They’re always talkin’ about these boys, tellin’ you who to watch out for.
This roster stuff, it changes every year. Some boys leave, some new boys come in. It’s like the seasons changin’. You got your spring, your summer, your fall, and your winter. And every fall, these boys get back out there on that field, ready to rumble.
They play in something called the “NCAAF.” Don’t ask me what that stands for, it’s just a bunch of letters to me. But it means they play against other schools. And they got this other school in Lynchburg, Liberty University. They’re the “Flames,” not Dragons. Sounds like a whole lot of fire and brimstone to me.
Virginia University of Lynchburg, they play in Division III, and Liberty plays in Division I. That’s just different groups, like different tables at the church potluck. Some folks say Division I is better, but I say it’s all just football. Boys runnin’, boys throwin’, boys catchin’. Ain’t nothin’ more to it than that.
So, there you have it. This “roster” thing ain’t so complicated after all. It’s just a list of names and numbers, tellin’ you who’s playin’ football for the Dragons. And if you wanna know more, you can just look it up online. But don’t get too caught up in all them fancy stats and numbers. Just sit back, enjoy the game, and cheer on them boys.
They play hard, these boys. They practice and train and give it their all. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, whether they win or lose. ‘Cause at the end of the day, it’s just a game. And it’s all about havin’ some fun and maybe eatin’ some good food along the way. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got a pie in the oven.
