Alright, let’s talk about this here hockey game, the Dallas Stars versus them Arizona Coyotes. Now, I don’t know much about fancy puck-slidin’, but I can tell ya what I see, you know? Like, I watch them fellas skatin’ around, chasin’ that little black thingy, and I figure, “Well, someone’s gotta win, right?”
First off, the Stars, them fellas seem pretty good. They got some fellas who can really skate, like them Roadrunners back home but on ice! They say the Stars are good at killin’ penalties, that means when the other team does somethin’ wrong, the Stars don’t let ’em score. That sounds important, you know? Like, if you don’t let the other team score, you’re gonna win, most likely. But, they also get in trouble a lot, always gettin’ penalties themselves. That’s like bein’ a kid who keeps gettin’ sent to the corner – you ain’t learnin’ nothin’! They need to be more careful, or they gonna get tired and lose.

Now, them Coyotes, well, they ain’t been doin’ so hot this year. Their record, it ain’t pretty, not like my prize-winning tomatoes! They lost a whole bunch of games, more than they won, that’s for sure. But, they did have one good year way back when, won a bunch of games and even won their division. That was a long time ago though, like when I still had all my teeth! But, you know, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes, so maybe them Coyotes got a surprise or two up their sleeves.
This game, it’s in Arizona, at that place called Mullet Arena. Sounds like a fishy place, don’t it? I heard the Stars already played the Coyotes a few times this year, and they won some, lost some, you know, it’s been a back and forth kinda thing. They say the Stars won against the Chicago Blackhawks last Tuesday, that’s good, but I don’t know what a Blackhawk is, sounds like a scary bird or somethin’. And the Coyotes, they lost a lot of games, but they still try, bless their hearts. It’s like me tryin’ to get that stubborn mule, Bessie, to move – sometimes it works, sometimes it don’t.
So, what’s gonna happen? Who’s gonna win? Well, if I had to bet, and I ain’t bettin’ ’cause I gotta save my pennies for them new garden gnomes, I’d say the Stars got a better chance. They got more good players, and they good at stoppin’ the other team from scorin’ when they’re a man down. But, them Coyotes, they playin’ at home, and sometimes that makes a difference. People yellin’ and hollerin’, it can get to ya, you know? Like when them crows get into my cornfield, drives me crazy!
I figure the Stars gonna try to score early and often, like hungry chickens at feeding time. And the Coyotes, they gotta play their best game, like my grandson tryin’ to impress his girlfriend. If the Coyotes can stay out of the penalty box and their goalie plays like a brick wall, they might just have a chance. But, if the Stars play like they should, and don’t take too many dumb penalties, they gonna win. That’s just common sense, like knowin’ you gotta water your plants if you want ‘em to grow.
So, there you have it. My prediction, plain and simple, is the Dallas Stars will probably win. But, hey, it’s hockey, anything can happen. Maybe a coyote will run onto the ice, or maybe the lights will go out, or maybe that little black thingy will just disappear! You never know, that’s what makes it excitin’, like watchin’ a thunderstorm rollin’ in.
Anyway, I hope them fellas have fun, play fair, and nobody gets hurt. And I hope them Stars win, so I can brag to my neighbor Martha, she’s always rootin’ for the other team, just to be contrary!
At the end of the day, it’s just a game, right? Like when we used to play kick the can when I was a youngin’. Win or lose, the sun’s gonna come up tomorrow, and I gotta go feed them chickens!
