Well, hey there. Let’s jaw about this… uh… “UConn football on the radio,” is it? Alrighty then. So, you wanna listen to the UConn football game on the radio, huh? It ain’t rocket science, let me tell ya.
First off, you gotta know when the game is. Can’t be listenin’ if you don’t know when they’re playin’, right? That’s just common sense, like knowin’ a hen don’t lay square eggs.
Now, they got all these fancy stations and whatnots. I heard tell of somethin’ called “WGCH 1490 AM” in Greenwich, and “WAVZ 1300 AM” in New Haven, and “WILI 1400 AM” in Willimantic. And sometimes, they even play it on that FM thingy, 95.3, they say. Too many numbers if you ask me, makes my head spin like a weathervane in a tornado.
- WGCH 1490 AM (Greenwich)
- WAVZ 1300 AM (New Haven)
- WILI 1400 AM (Willimantic)
- Also simulcast on 95.3 FM
Then there’s this UConn+ thing. Launched it this year, they did. Said it was with some folks called LEARFIELD and SIDEARM. Sounds highfalutin to me. You watch it on your computer, I reckon. Through the “web browser,” they call it. Honestly, I ain’t too sure about all this newfangled stuff.
But if you just wanna listen, seems like the easiest way is this TuneIn thing. You can go to their website, *, or get their app on your phone, if you got one of them smarty pants phones. They say you can listen to the Connecticut Huskies Sports Network on there, whenever, wherever. Sounds mighty convenient, even for an old gal like me.
They also got somethin’ called UConn IMG Radio Network, and somethin’ else called the Varsity Network App, and even 97.9 Fox Sports. So many choices, makes you dizzy! But seems like TuneIn is the place to go. You can find it all there, they say. The game, the talk before and after, and even them coaches shows, like with that Geno Auriemma fella from the basketball team.
And if you’re willin’ to pay a bit extra, there’s TuneIn Plus. They say you get even more sports stuff there, all sorts of talk and analysis. Podcasts too, whatever those are. Sounds like a lot of yappin’ to me, but some folks like that, I guess.
So, to recap, you wanna listen to the game, find out when it’s on, then go to * or get the app. Or you can try them other radio stations I mentioned earlier. Jay Burnham and Andy Gresh are usually the fellas callin’ the game, so you’ll know you got the right place. They say the kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. Plenty of time to get your snacks ready!
And don’t forget, they also talk about the games before and after they play, so you can listen to that too if you want. It’s all on there, they say. On TuneIn. Just make sure you got your radio turned up loud enough, especially if you’re hard of hearin’ like me. And if you get confused, just ask one of them young’uns to help ya. They seem to know all about this stuff.
Now, I gotta go make some biscuits. All this talk about football makes a body hungry. You enjoy the game now, ya hear?
