Alright, listen up, y’all. I’m gonna tell ya ’bout them Colts football boys from back in 2014. Don’t expect no fancy talk, ’cause I ain’t got none of that. I’m just gonna tell it like it is, plain and simple.
So, the Colts, right? They played in that there Lucas Oil Stadium. Big place, I hear. They had a bunch of fellas on the team, a whole 53-man roster, they say. Strong boys, runnin’ and jumpin’ and smashin’ into each other. I don’t know all their names, but they sure did try hard, most of the time anyways.
Now, that 2014 season, it was somethin’ else. They won some games, they lost some games. That’s how it goes, right? You can’t win ’em all, that’s for sure. They had a schedule, games they had to play, and they went out there and did their best. I saw some photos from the games, those boys lookin’ all sweaty and tough.
They played a game against them Houston Texans. Tough fellas, those Texans. The Colts, they had their ups and downs that game, I reckon. Then there was them Patriots. Oh, them Patriots! They were good, real good. The Colts played ’em in the AFC Championship game. Big game, that one. Everyone was watchin’.
- The Colts fought hard, I’ll give ’em that.
- But them Patriots, they were just too strong.
- They beat the Colts, sent ’em home packin’.
Some folks was sayin’ the Colts was gonna go to the Super Bowl that year. Heck, I even heard some talk about ’em winnin’ the whole dang thing. But it wasn’t meant to be, I guess. The season ended right there with that AFC Championship game. Just like that, poof! Gone. Surprising it was, seein’ as how well they was doin’ for a bit.
Now, the Colts, they been around a long time. They used to be in Baltimore, way back when. They won some championships back then too, even a couple of Super Bowls. One in 1971 and another one in 2007, they tell me. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, ain’t it? They had some good coaches too, like that fella Don Shula. Heard he was a real smart fella, knew how to get them boys playin’ good.
But 2014, well, it wasn’t their year. They played hard, they had some good players, but they just couldn’t quite get over that hump. They lost that AFC Championship game, and that was the end of it. No Super Bowl, no nothin’. Just a bunch of tired, beat-up boys headin’ home for the winter.
I tell ya, watchin’ them Colts, it’s like watchin’ life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Sometimes you get real close to somethin’ great, and then it just slips right through your fingers. But you gotta keep on tryin’, keep on fightin’. That’s what them Colts boys did, and that’s all you can ask for, really.
So, that’s my take on the 2014 Indianapolis Colts. They had a good team, a tough team, but they just couldn’t quite make it all the way. Maybe next year, right? That’s what they always say. Maybe next year.
Indianapolis Colts history is somethin’ else though. They weren’t always in Indianapolis you know. They started out in Baltimore. Won championships there too. Three NFL championships in 1958, 1959 and 1968. And like I said, they got them two Super Bowls, so they ain’t no slouches. Even played in and lost two more. Lots of history there.
But yeah, that 2014 season, it stung a bit. People was real excited, and then… well, it just goes to show you, nothin’s guaranteed. You just never know how things gonna turn out. That’s why you gotta enjoy the ride, right? That’s what I always say.
