And Paul Pierce, yeah, he was a Kansas boy too. Had a good long career in the NBA, won a championship, they say. Clutch player, that’s what they called him. Made big shots when it mattered.
Some Other Guys, Pretty Good Too
- Andrew Wiggins, yeah, he played for Kansas for a bit. Young fella, real athletic. Went on to the NBA, doing alright for himself.
- Joel Embiid, they say he’s one of the best now. Big man, can shoot, can dribble, can do it all. Kansas Jayhawk, that’s right. He even won that MVP thing, that’s a big deal.
- Markieff Morris, he’s been around a while. Tough player, not afraid to get in there and mix it up. Kansas roots, you know. He even played in the finals recently.

Got a couple of young fellas just starting out, Johnny Furphy and Kevin McCullar. They got drafted, that’s a big step. Injured a bit, so they ain’t playing much yet. Gotta work hard, those boys, if they wanna make it big like them other guys.

You know, it’s funny, this Kansas place, ain’t much else going on ‘cept farming and basketball. But somehow, we keep churning out these basketball players, real good ones. Must be something in the water, or maybe it’s all that corn we eat, makes you grow tall and strong.

They say there’s been a whole bunch of fellas from Kansas go to the NBA. Eleven of ’em playing right now, and even more if you go back in time. Nick Collison, he was one, played a long time. Good player, solid.
It ain’t easy, you know, making it to the NBA. Takes a lot of hard work, a lot of talent, and a little bit of luck. But these boys from Kansas, they got something special. They got that grit, that determination. They don’t give up easy.
From College to the Pros
So, you see, Kansas, it’s a good place for basketball. These fellas, they start out playing in college, for the Jayhawks, that’s our team. Then they go on to the NBA, playing against the best in the world. It’s a big jump, but they do alright. They make us proud, them Kansas boys.

And it ain’t just about the players, you know. It’s about the coaches, the fans, the whole community. Everybody loves basketball ’round here. It’s a part of who we are. So when one of our boys makes it big, we all feel like we made it big too.
