Alright, let’s talk about this Jimmy Johnson fella, the golf caddie. You know, the one they’re makin’ a big fuss about. Heard they even put him in some kinda “Caddie Hall of Fame.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Don’t rightly know what that is, but if they’re givin’ him an award, he must be pretty good at carryin’ them golf bags, I reckon.
Now, this Jimmy, he worked for that young Justin Thomas for a spell. Started back in 2015, they say. Six years he lugged them clubs around, ’til that Ryder Cup thingy in 2021. Guess he figured he’d had enough, or maybe he got a better offer. Can’t blame a man for wanting to better hisself, right? Golf caddies gotta make a livin’ too, you know. It ain’t all sunshine and birdies out there on the green.
Heard tell of another caddie, this fella workin’ for Matt Kuchar. Seems there was some trouble ’bout money. Folks were yellin’ at Kuchar, sayin’ he didn’t pay his caddie enough. Fifty thousand dollars, they say it was. That’s a whole lotta money where I come from! Anyways, Kuchar ended up payin’ the man his due. Guess you gotta treat folks right, even if you’re a big shot golfer. Caddie salary, that’s somethin’ folks talk about, seems like it can be good money if you get with the right golfer.
- Jimmy Johnson worked for Justin Thomas.
- He started in 2015 and left in 2021.
- Some caddies make a lot of money.
Then there’s this Dustin Johnson fella. Got a caddie named Jonathan Jakovac. Been with him since 2013, they say. That’s a long time to be haulin’ golf bags, let me tell ya. But this Jakovac, he ain’t doin’ too bad, apparently. Heard he’s makin’ over a million dollars a year! Can you believe that? More money than most folks around here see in a lifetime. Makes you think, maybe I shoulda been a caddie instead of… well, never mind that. Professional golf caddies, seems like a good job if you can get it.
See, bein’ a caddie ain’t just about carryin’ clubs. You gotta know the course, gotta know the wind, gotta know what club your golfer needs for every shot. It’s like bein’ a second brain out there. And you gotta be tough, gotta be able to walk all them miles, in the sun, in the rain, whatever the weather throws at ya. It ain’t easy work, I tell ya. But if you’re good at it, and you find a good golfer to work for, you can make a decent livin’. Golf caddie life, it’s harder than it looks, I betcha.
So, good for Jimmy Johnson, gettin’ into that Hall of Fame. He musta been a darn good caddie to get that kinda recognition. And good for all them other caddies out there, hustlin’ and makin’ a livin’. It’s honest work, and somebody’s gotta do it. Caddie Hall of Fame, that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon. Makes you think about all the hard workin’ folks out there, doin’ their jobs, day in and day out. Even if it’s just carryin’ golf bags, it takes a special kinda person to do it well.
Anyways, that’s what I know about this Jimmy Johnson and them golf caddies. It ain’t much, but it’s somethin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go… do somethin’ else. This talkin’ about golf and money is makin’ my head spin. Jimmy Johnson caddie career, seems like he did alright for hisself.
