Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this McCollum football schedule thing. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I can tell ya what’s what.
So, this here McCollum team, they play football. You know, that game with the pigskin? Yeah, that one. They got a whole bunch of games lined up, and folks wanna know when they playin’. Makes sense, I guess. If you wanna go watch ’em, you gotta know when to show up, right?
Now, I heard tell they playin’ South San Memorial on August 29th, that’s a Thursday. Then on September 6th, a Friday, they got Somerset over in Somerset. Week after that, on the 13th, Floresville comin’ to McCollum. And the 20th? They’re off to Corpus…somewhere. Don’t rightly remember the rest of that place’s name, too long for my old brain. This is what they call the start of the season, I reckon. Get the ball rollin’, so to speak.

- September 6th: Somerset (at Somerset)
- September 13th: Floresville (at McCollum)
- September 20th: Corpus… somethin’ or other (away game, I’d bet)
Now, where do you find this here schedule? Well, some folks say you can look it up online. They got these fancy websites now, you know. Dave Campbell’s somethin’-somethin’, they got info. And this TSSAA… T-S-S-A-A… they got schedules too, but that might be for them Tennessee folks. We’re talkin’ Texas here, dagnabbit! McCollum Cowboys, that’s who we care about.
McCollum High School, that’s where they play. In San Antonio, yessiree. You can probably find the whole shebang on their website, if they got one. Or maybe the school paper, if they still print them things. Heck, just ask around. Somebody’s bound to know.
They play all sorts of teams, I hear. Rivals and such. Gotta be tough to keep track of it all. But these young fellas, they do it. Runnin’ around, throwin’ that ball. Good exercise, if nothin’ else.
This here schedule, it ain’t set in stone, mind you. Things happen. Games get moved, times change. Weather messes things up, sometimes. So, you gotta keep your ears open. Listen for announcements. Check back regular-like to make sure you got the right info. Don’t wanna show up on the wrong day, lookin’ like a fool.
And it ain’t just the varsity team neither. They got other teams too, I think. Junior varsity, maybe? Freshmen, maybe? I don’t rightly know. But they all got games, and they all got schedules. So, if you got a young’un playin’, you gotta figure out that schedule too. More games to watch, I guess. More hot dogs to eat.
This whole football thing, it’s a big deal ‘round here. Folks get all riled up about it. Cheerin’ and hollerin’. Tailgatin’ and such. It’s a good time, long as nobody gets hurt too bad. And these boys, they work hard. Practicin’ all the time. Gotta give ‘em credit for that. Even if I don’t always understand what they’re doin’ out there on that field.
So, that’s the lowdown on the McCollum football schedule as far as I know it. Find yourself a schedule, get yourself a seat, and enjoy the game. And don’t forget to bring a blanket if it’s cold. And maybe some bug spray, them mosquitos can be fierce.
