They say the big bosses of golf, the USGA and that R&A bunch, said you can only have 14 of them sticks in your bag. Fourteen! What in the world do you need that many for? Back in my day, one good stick was enough for everything! But I heard those pro fellers, they carry a driver, a 3-wood, a 5-wood, then irons from 4 to 9, a gap wedge, a sand wedge, a lob wedge, and that putter thingy. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? My favorite set up, if I had to choose, would be that same driver, 3-wood, 5-wood, then irons 4 through 9, and four wedges – a pitching one, a gap one, a sand one, and a lob one. And the putter, of course. That way they got more choices when they get close to that little hole.
- Balls and Tees: And don’t forget them little white balls! They’re tiny things, easy to lose in the tall grass, I bet. And them “tees”? Just little pegs to put the ball on, far as I can see. They don’t weigh much, but I guess they gotta go somewhere.
- Other Stuff: I reckon folks put other things in their golf purse too. Maybe a snack, a drink, a towel to wipe their sweaty brows… Heck, maybe even a lucky charm! City folks and their knick-knacks, I tell ya.
Why so many clubs, you ask?
Well, I ain’t got the foggiest! Seems like overkill to me. But them golfers, they say each club is for a different kind of whack. One for hittin’ it far, one for hittin’ it high, one for gettin’ it out of the sand… Sounds complicated if you ask me. They even got some of them long irons they’re replacin’ with these “hybrid” things. Sounds like a car, not a golf stick. And them wedges, seems like there’s a million of them! But they say it helps ’em around the green, where they gotta be real careful with their whacks.
Pickin’ a Golf Purse:
Now, if you’re gonna get yourself one of these golf purses, I reckon you gotta think about a few things. How many clubs you plannin’ on carryin’? You gonna walk or ride in one of them golf carts? You want somethin’ fancy or somethin’ that’ll just get the job done? And you probably gonna want a whole bunch of pockets, to keep all your bits and bobs separate and tidy-like. Make sure it’s sturdy too. Wouldn’t want them clubs fallin’ out and whacking you in the shin! There’s even ones with them standy legs, so it don’t gotta lay down on the ground. Fancy, I tell ya. And those cart bags, they’re real big and strong, cause they don’t gotta be carried.
Taking Care of Your Golf Purse:
And just like anythin’ else, you gotta take care of your golf purse. Keep it clean, don’t leave it out in the rain, and don’t go throwin’ it around. If you treat it right, it’ll last you a good long time. Probably outlast them fancy golf clubs, if you ask me.
