Alright, let’s talk about what to wear to them golf tournaments, you know, the fancy ones. I ain’t no expert, but I seen enough folks dressed up and dressed down to know a thing or two. You don’t wanna look like a fool out there, do ya?
First off, forget about them beach clothes. You ain’t going sunbathing, you’re going to watch some golf. That means no tank tops, you know, them sleeveless things, and definitely no flip-flops. Heck, I wouldn’t even wear them cut-off shorts, the ones that look like you took scissors to your old pants. Jeans? Leave ’em at home. If you’re thinking about wearing somethin’ you’d wear to the beach, you’re on the wrong track.
Now, for the fellas. You gotta wear a shirt with a collar. Don’t ask me why, that’s just how it is. Polo shirts are good, you know, the ones with the little buttons. And no t-shirts, unless they got a collar. As for pants, those khakis are always a safe bet. Black pants are fine too, but make sure they ain’t too tight, you gotta be comfortable walking around all day. Shorts are okay, but they gotta be the right length. Not too short, not too long. Just above the knee, that’s the sweet spot. And for the shoes, somethin’ comfy but not too sporty. Sneakers are probably okay, but leave them bright orange running shoes at home.
- Shirts: Collared shirts, polo shirts.
- Pants: Khakis, black pants, golf shorts (just above the knee).
- Shoes: Comfortable, not too sporty.
- No-nos: Tank tops, halter tops, jeans, cut-off shorts, flip-flops, bright athletic shoes.
For the ladies, it’s kinda similar, but with a few more options. You can wear a nice blouse or a polo shirt too. Dresses and skirts are fine, but they gotta be a decent length. Not too short, you know what I mean? Couple of inches above the knee, that’s about right. They say no more than two inches above the kneecap, so keep that in mind. You don’t wanna be showin’ too much. And same goes for the shorts, just above the knee. Stay away from them yoga pants or bike shorts, they ain’t for the golf course. And as for colors, stick to the basics. Khaki, black, white, that kind of stuff. You don’t wanna stick out like a sore thumb in some bright pink dress.
Comfort is key, y’all. You’re gonna be doing a lot of walking, maybe even some standing around, so you don’t wanna be wearin’ something that pinches or rubs you the wrong way. And think about the weather, too. If it’s hot, wear somethin’ light and breathable. If it’s chilly, bring a jacket or a sweater. It’s better to be too warm than too cold, I always say.
Now, I know this all sounds like a lot of rules, but it ain’t that complicated. Just think “respectable.” You wanna look nice and presentable, like you’re there to watch some serious golf, not like you just rolled outta bed. It’s about showin’ respect for the game and the players. And hey, if you’re still not sure, just look at what other people are wearin’ and try to blend in. Nobody wants to be the one who sticks out for all the wrong reasons.
And one more thing. This ain’t no fashion show, it’s a golf tournament. So don’t go overboard with the fancy stuff. Just keep it simple, keep it comfortable, and keep it respectable. That’s all there is to it.
So, you get yourself dressed up proper, and you go on out there and enjoy that golf tournament. And remember, if you look good, you’ll feel good. And if you feel good, you’ll have a darn good time. That’s what it’s all about.
