You know what? This Calgary Flames, they play that hockey, right? They trying to get into that big game, that, what they call it? Playoff! Yeah, playoff chances, that’s it. They gotta win, win, win, or no playoff for them. And I heard it ain’t lookin’ so good this year.
They got some good players, I guess. But other teams, they got good players too. It’s a tough game, this hockey. Lots of pushing and shoving. And that puck, it goes so fast! Hard to keep track of, I tell ya.
They gotta play good, real good, if they want that playoff. They lose, they out. Simple as that. And folks are saying they might lose. They might not make it. Some say 6.7% chance, whatever that means. Sounds bad to me. Just a few games left, they say. And if they don’t make it to the playoff, well, that’s just a darn shame.
- They need to win a lot.
- Other teams are good too.
- If they lose, no playoff.
I heard they lost to some team, the Jets, I think. 5 to 2, that was the score. Not good, not good at all. Gotta win more than you lose, that’s what I always say. And they ain’t been winning enough lately. Not for the Calgary Flames playoff chances, anyway.
They got these other teams, too. The Avalanche, and the Rangers, and the Blues. Lots of teams. And they all want that playoff spot. It’s like a big pie, and everyone wants a piece. They also say if the Blues lose to Flames, things will change. But who knows what will happen, right? There’s another two teams, Wild and Sharks. It is all too complicated for my old brain.
And this playoff, it’s a big deal. They call it the Stanley Cup. Sounds fancy. I don’t know much about it, but I know it’s important. They say the Calgary Flames ain’t got it in a while, and they wanna win it back. But, you know, wanting and getting are two different things.
They got a few games left, they say. Not many. Gotta make ’em count. Every game is important now. No room for mistakes. They gotta play their best, every single time. Every time!
Folks are saying they ain’t gonna make it. They say the Calgary Flames playoff chances are slim. Like a skinny chicken, that’s what they say. But you never know. Sometimes the underdog wins. I don’t know what’s the “underdog,” but it sounds good. Sometimes the team you don’t expect, they surprise you. Maybe the Flames will surprise us.
- Playoff is a big deal.
- Stanley Cup is fancy.
- Flames gotta win the last few games.
They got these things, Presidents’ Trophies, they say the Flames won two. Don’t know what those are, but they sound important. Sounds like something you put on your shelf. Must be nice to win one of those. Or two. I never won no trophy. But I got a good recipe for apple pie, if that counts. I am sure it counts for something, right?
They say this Calgary Flames team, they gotta be perfect. Close to perfect, anyway. That’s a tall order. Nobody’s perfect. Except maybe my grandkids. They’re pretty close. But on the ice, you gotta be good all the time. No slipping up. Gotta be on your toes. Those young folks, they skate so fast. I get dizzy just watching them, I tell ya.
They say this team, they used to be real good. Top of the league, they say. Now, not so much. Things change, I guess. One day you’re up, next day you’re down. That’s life, ain’t it? Same with hockey, I suppose. They were at the top. Now they are at the bottom, with the Sharks and Ducks. I don’t know them, but it sure don’t sound good.
They got this other thing, a poll, they call it. Like voting for the mayor, but for hockey, I reckon. And the poll says the Flames ain’t gonna make it to the playoff. That ain’t good. You want folks to vote for you, not against you. But that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. I don’t know how these things work, but it sure is complicated. I would not be surprised if they lose all the next eight games or something.
Well, I hope they do good, these Calgary Flames. It’s always nice to see your team win. Even if you don’t understand all the rules. It’s exciting. And it gives you something to talk about. And who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us all. Maybe they’ll make it to that playoff after all. Stranger things have happened, I suppose. We will see, we will see. I just hope they do well. It is always nice to see them win.
