Well, lemme tell you somethin’ about this Hamilton Jr Chargers basketball. My grandson, he plays, and lordy, them kids can run! It’s a sight to see, I tell ya. They got more energy than a whole field of rabbits, those young’uns.
Now, they got this thing, this Hamilton Jr Chargers, and it’s for the boys and the girls, third grade all the way to eighth. They all get together and learn how to play that basketball. They say it’s for the kids who gonna go to that Hamilton High School later. Makes sense, get ’em started early, I reckon.
- They got practices, and games, and all that hoopla.
- My grandson, bless his heart, he loves it.
- Says he’s learnin’ how to dribble and shoot and all that fancy stuff.
This basketball, it ain’t like when I was young. We just threw the ball around in the yard. These kids, they got coaches and everything! Fancy coaches, tellin’ em what to do. They even wear those matching shirts, lookin’ all official and whatnot. They want to be a coach, they gotta fill out some forms online and do some kinda check. Everyone has to do it, they say.
They got this thing, tryouts, they call it. Back in September, I think it was. All the kids tryin’ to get on the team. It’s a big deal, you know. Gotta show ’em what you got. My grandson, he was nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but he made it! He’s playin’ for the Hamilton Jr Chargers basketball team, that little scamp.
They play other teams, from other towns. It’s a whole thing, I tell ya. Parents all hollerin’ and cheerin’. It’s louder than a barn full of roosters, I swear. But it’s fun, you know? Good, clean fun. Keeps the kids outta trouble, that’s what I always say.
And they learn somethin’, too, these kids. They learn how to work together, how to be a team. That’s important, you know. More important than all that dribblin’ and shootin’, I reckon. Learn how to get along with others, how to win and lose and all that. Like this team play. That’s what they are learning all the time.
This Hamilton Jr Chargers, it’s a good thing. Good for the kids, good for the town. Keeps ’em busy, teaches ’em somethin’. And it’s fun to watch, I gotta admit. Even for an old lady like me. I go to the games, bundled up in my blanket, and I cheer for my grandson and his team.
They got lots of kids playin’, too. I heard last year, or maybe it was the year before, they had over eighty kids playin’! That’s a lot of little feet runnin’ around. This year, they got almost as many. Lots of kids wantin’ to play that basketball.
- They say it’s important to learn the “fundamentals.”
- I don’t know what that means exactly, but it sounds important.
- Probably means learnin’ how to play right, I guess.
My grandson, he wants to keep playin’, even when the season’s over. They got somethin’ for that, too, I think. Playin’ in the summer. I told him he better ask his coach about it. Coach knows all about that kinda stuff, I reckon. He better keep playing if he wants to get better and better.
So yeah, that Hamilton Jr Chargers basketball, it’s a big deal around here. Everyone’s talkin’ about it. The kids love it, the parents love it, even this old lady loves it. It’s somethin’ to see, I tell ya. Somethin’ to see.
If you ever get a chance, you should go watch ’em play. You’ll see what I mean. Them kids, they got spirit. They got heart. And they sure can run! They are learning and growing. Just like my grandson. He is very happy. And this makes me happy, too. They are doing good, those Hamilton Jr Chargers.
