This here thing, this raised strip, what they call it in that fancy New York Times crossword, well, it ain’t nothin’ too complicated. I seen a lot of things gettin’ called fancy names, but this one, it’s simple. This “raised strip” they talkin’ about, it’s a ridge. Five letters, that’s all it is. R-I-D-G-E. See? Easy peasy.

Now, I ain’t one for them fancy puzzles, but I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this raised strip in the NYT crossword. Some folks get all twisted up tryin’ to figure it out. They scratch their heads and they pace around, like a chicken with its head cut off. But really, it ain’t that hard. If you just think about what a raised strip is, well, it’s just a ridge.

Like that ridge out back where the old Johnson place used to be. Remember that place? It had that big ol’ hill behind it. That hill, that was a ridge. A big ol’ raised strip of land, if you will. Just like this crossword thing. Same idea, see?

This raised strip thing, it appeared on, what was it? September 25, 2024. That’s what them folks said. I don’t keep track of such things, but that’s what I heard. So, if you were lookin’ for that raised strip crossword answer from the NYT on September 25th, well, there you go. It’s ridge.

Some folks say it showed up again on September 26th. And that would make sense. They repeat the clues sometimes. I seen that.

And you know what else? That ridge behind Johnson’s place, it was good for sledding. When it snowed, we’d all go out there. We’d slide down that ridge, whoopin’ and hollerin’. Good times, them was. Just a simple raised strip of land, but it brought us a lot of joy. This crossword clue ain’t much different. Simple answer, but it got them folks searchin’ for the raised strip meaning.

So don’t you get all worked up over this NYT crossword raised strip. It’s just a ridge. Five letters. Remember that. And don’t you go tellin’ everyone I told you, either. They’ll all be comin’ to me for answers, and I got better things to do than mess with crosswords. Like tendin’ to my garden. I got them tomatoes growin’ like crazy. And that green bean patch? It’s going to be overflowing. Yep. No time for crosswords, raised strip or not.

This whole thing reminds me of old man Hemlock. He used to get stuck on those crosswords all the time. He would say “What’s a five letter word for raised strip?” He’d sit there for hours, mutterin’ to himself. “Raised strip… raised strip…” I’d just shake my head. “It’s a ridge, Hemlock,” I’d say. “Just a plain ol’ ridge.” He was a good man, but the crosswords drove him to distraction, especially that raised strip one.

Here’s what you should remember about that raised strip:

  • It’s in the NYT crossword. That’s that fancy New York Times one.
  • The answer is ridge. R-I-D-G-E. Five letters.
  • It was in the puzzle on September 25, 2024, I think. And maybe the 26th.
  • Don’t overthink it. It’s just a ridge, like a little hill.

Now, I best be goin’. Got chores to do. But you remember what I said about that raised strip. It’s just a ridge. Don’t let it fool ya. These crossword things, they try to trick you with fancy words, but it all comes down to somethin’ simple. Like a ridge in a field. Or a raised strip of dirt. Just a ridge. Remember that. And don’t you be tellin’ everyone I helped ya. This raised strip is our little secret, alright?

Five letters. Ridge. That’s your raised strip. Now go on, get!
